Hey everyone just got a 98 Eclipse GST yesterday for 1K and the reason why it was so cheap is because the car cranks but it won’t start. Fuel pump works and the injectors too, ignition coils and spark plugs are clean too but i don’t know what else it could be. Battery and starter are good too.

Also I have a crack on my manifold please help!

What all did you finish fixing or testing today to finally get it running?
Fixed all vacuum leaks put clamps almost every where i could LOL replaced the damn crankshaft sensor and she started immediately

Some of the squealing noise could be the PS pump damaging itself. Running it dry is not healthy. Fill the reservoir with some Mercon or Dextron ATF variation.
Wait so not power steering fluid? I use atf?

Check your engine and transmission mounts. If they're shot the drivetrain will rock back and forth causing pressure on your shifter cable. There could also be an internal issue with the transmission but mounts are a simple check to do first.
gave it to my uncle to check your right the engine and transmission mounts are f***ed ac works and needs a new belt for the alternator power steering pump and ac

Yea it sounds like it has a false turbo whistle in the exhaust. I bet if you look inside the pipe you'll see it. A lot of people had those back when I was in high school. But it was always easy to tell the difference between real turbo cars. There were also whistles you could add to the air intake tube but the sound was much quieter and there was a restriction factor.

So you are committed to fixing this car, yes? Frustrating as hell to think it's good to go, only to find out more stuff is wrong. The car has obviously been neglected. Maybe the guy you bought it from wasn't a liar and was just ignorant... but SOMEONE swapped trunks and advertised it as a GST; someone listed the Opel GT as a Corvette. That tells me there's likely more wrong with the car than what you've discovered already.

I assume your uncle has some wrench time under his belt and can help you go through the car and identify anything else that is wrong? Did you set a budget like I recommended? Do you have an idea of just how much you are willing to spend to get it reliably on the road and at what dollar point you consider to be too much? Are you okay with the car costing more than it is worth on the open market by the time you've paid for everything?

If you keep going with the car you'll learn a hell of a lot, and you can honestly say you brought it back from the brink of crusherland. And we'll be here and continue to give advice and guidance.

No budget yet i’m gonna bring this car back just because the previous owner didn’t take care of it doesn’t mean it deserves the scrapyard i’m gonna bring her back even if it’s a 420a i’ll daily it my uncle has been a mechanic for god knows how long but he’s had a saleen mustang with a fat ass turbo on it but some drunk driver hit it and he yes he’s gonna help me and i want to learn how to work on cars i’ll post a video tmr showing you guys how wrecked this car is

Happy to help how we can. Could you help us out though... could you please use punctuation in your posts? Makes it much easier to read, and since it would seem you're likely going to be seeking advice and help on this forum for a while, it'd be appreciated.

I tried digging around in my FSM and couldn't find much on the specs. Amsoil says it has a total capacity of 9.1 quarts and uses ATF SP-III or SP-4 fluid. I'm not sure if that's accurate though since the turbo models only have a total capacity of 7.1 quarts.
