I'm about to order one off ebay this weekend. I have a real apexi n-1 for a gst on my car now and after about 6 or 7 years the can is about to fall off from vibration. If your going to go turbo anytime, get a gst version because it has all 3" piping. If not, you pry wanna keep some back pressure so go with a n/t system that runs the smaller 2.5" piping.
Here's the one I'm going to order up
95-99 96 97 MIT. ECLIPSE GST CATBACK EXHAUST BURNT TIP:eBay Motors (item 110422504929 end time Dec-06-09 14:53:25 PST)

it has a 2.5 flange on it, so I will cut that and weld on my existing 3" flange and I will have to probably shorten this a little to fit with my custom downpipe and testpipe.
These are other good ones to get that a lot of guys are running...
95-99 ECLIPSE GST TURBO TALON CATBACK EXHAUST 96 97 98:eBay Motors (item 300263345363 end time Nov-25-09 19:33:04 PST)

i just ran a search for eclipse gst exhaust...they bolt up the exact same.
Good luck-

yeah i really wanna stay N/T so im looking for a decent amount of back pressure and want the flanges to match up is 2.5 inch piping to big or is it good for my current mods?

You don't want back pressure, your goal is to achieve good cylinder scavenging at the RPM you intend to see gain, with as little back-pressure as possible. See those links I posted.

2.5" is fine, I wouldn't go any bigger while N/A.

I have the one you just linked to. The first one doesn't mention a tip size (that I noticed, anyways) but it is likely going to be large as well.

I read the link in your post and was wondering if you take the garden hose analogy and restrict the exit flow you increase velocity. That said I had seen on ebay an attachment to quiet exhaust noise. It is spring loaded and the more exhaust pressure the more it opens up. 4" TIP MUFFLER AUTO SILENCER COROLLA ECLIPSE WRX STi xB:eBay Motors (item 380178278117 end time Dec-15-09 14:22:03 PST) Do you think that would be a possible way to create a variable velocity exhaust to keep exhaust velocity a various RPM ranges? Sort of like the Ferrari exhaust in the other thread? Also I remember from back in the day anti reversion headers that would stop reverse exhaust flow.

im probably going to go with the 2.5 piping and 4.5 tip i think thats the best i gunna find for that price range and pipe sizing i guess im going to have to deal with the 4.5 tip LOL

Good call man.

About the spring loaded restrictor...
I would take a stab at it and simply say that I imagine ferrari spent a good deal of money and R+D on their system verses an ebay one that more than anything copied the 'idea'.

To the OP,post of the system after you get it and let us know how you like it being since I'm also in the market for a new one...one without any backpressure (wink wink).

"vi. Conclusion.

So it turns out that cars don't need backpressure, they need as high a flow velocity as possible with as little backpressure as possible."

so does this mean that it doesn't hurt to run bigger than 2.5?
I'm running 3" because i plan on going turbo eventually.
I was just curious because i was under the impressing that it is bad.

i would ask locke he seems he has some knowledge on that subject

its saying it does hurt to run 3inch (least NA) Basically you want the best of booth worlds. Smaller helps you at low RPMS, bigger helps at high rpms. If you go to big though, you will lose the velocity. You want a nice inbetween big and small, 2.5 is a great size for NA for our engine that is
