I am trying to make a more suitable intake for my FP RED with the 84mm flow advancement cover. Just like the one pictured.
The only problem is that the outlet is ~3.3 inches. I stretched a crappy 3" auto-zone coupler over it, no problems. But I feel like a 5-ply reinforced coupler is going to give me a hernia if I try this.
Before someone says "get a 3.25" which I would, if they existed in the 45 degree, 4" to 3.25" flavor. So far I can only find 4->3 and 4->3.5.
Also this is the cheapest route I can find. at $37 for the 45* aluminum, and $37-35 for the silicone ($74 in total). Using a 4->3.25 straight reducer and two 45* aluminum elbows would cost $87 PLUS another coupler to join them or even more $$ to weld (ball park $40, based on past experiences around here, $127 in total).
So, has anyone done this before, and which size did you use?
