I just got myself a '99 Eclipse RS and the radiator started leaking. No overheating yet, but I wanna fix it asap and was hoping to upgrade the radiator to an aluminum one, but I cannot find any of them anywhere for an Eclipse RS.

Also, any take on a half-rad and what type I could use in place of I went this route?

No reason for aluminum or surely not a half rad unless there is a point to it. I would only upgrade to aluminum for myself because I can. I have no real need for an "upgrade". It does offer welded tanks instead of the crimped on plastic so there is that.

Unfortunately all the performance aluminum radiators went out of production in the early 2000's. The only thing you can buy now is stock replacements.

One thing I noticed is that the manual models came with a much slimmer radiator than the autos from the factory (because of the trans cooler). And unfortunately all replacement radiators for sale are universal between auto and manual cars, so you have the extra thickness there. I tried to find an OEM manual radiator in good shape to use, but at this point they are just too old and not reliable anymore.

One last thing you could do is call around radiator shops. Some will custom make a radiator for you. It's not cheap though.

You can also go to a race parts distributor such as Jegs or Summit Racing and find an aluminum radiator that has the same measurements and water outlets as yours, I run a VW Scirocco radiator in mine, it took some welding to make it work but its just an example of what you can do if you are crafty and really want or need it to work for you.

I believe you can use the neon waterpump pipe instead of our metal one and run a turbo eclipse radiator. You'll need to cut one of the mounting locations off of the pipe.
But this requires deletion or bypassing of our heater hoses. O.P doesn't specify if daily driver or not...

You are correct... I didn't remember seeing the fitting for a heater hose but according to this
