Hello all,

I’m about to purchase a 2GA AWD 5 speed transmission to swap in my 2GB. I believe my 2GB trans is getting worn out, so I plan to send my 2GB for rebuild, but before I do I just wanted to confirm once and for all the following.

All that is different between these manual transmission is the front driff drive ring and therefore the output to the T-case, and that I will need a matching 2GA t-case to go with the 2GA transmission. If I were to use my 2GB t-case with the 2GA transmission, the center diff would fight the rear diff and break, correct?

I’m posting this to confirm the rear 3.545 differential for manual cars is cross compatible between 2GA and 2GB transmissions.

Can anyone also confirm if my 2GB speed sensor will work fine with the 2GA, or do I need to order a 2GA speed sensor as well, and connect to the existing speed sensor harness?

Thanks in advance.

My memory says yes the rear diff ratio is the same for all 2g awd 5spd cars.

Yes you need to have the matching t case for the trans. Early model trans need's early t case or late model trans needs late model t case.

The speed sensor ratio is trans dependent not car dependent by memory. So to read correctly you would need a sensor that matches the trans.

Appreciate the insight everyone.

Just wanted to avoid regret spend once the 2ga transmission arrives.

Do you know if the pin connectors for the 2ga and 2gb speed sensors are the same allowing me to plug my existing harness connector into the 2ga speed sensor?

The 2g sensors are the same, it's just the removable gear on the end of it that is different.
