im looking at getting a 2g this spring i like the GSX but i wanted to get a Talon TSi AWD. ive heard alot of places wont work on them or its hard to get parts for them?? are there ways around this? also i know the 1g are better for modding (so ive heard) but i dont want to go all out. maybe just beef up the 16g. is the Talon a good choice?

the 1G is not better for modding persay, just comes with a better intake manifold and a better blow off valve and bigger turbo. The 2G has the better exhaust manifold of the two. The 1G are lighter but the main reason people get them is because you can find them cheap and quick. If a GSX is what your after then expect to pay around ten grand for one that is not beat to crap, or just buy it as is and porbably throw a whole new trnsmission in. They are going to be very hard to find. A TSi will be cheaper than the GSX but also will look different. Its all a matter of what you want to sacrifice.

yea i def. would like to get a TSi but i still like the GSX just seem to be harder to find around here. ive seen alot of talons for sale though. and i like the tsi look alittle better than the gsx. thanks for the help guys

:nono: that is a point that can/has been debated to death. I am not going to get into it but its all about VE. "its not the size of the boat its the motion of the ocean" theory.

I take it that you'll be driving in some snow being you're from CO. My Tsi AWD is great in the snow. I can find aftermarket parts pretty easily. OEM are a little more difficult but can still be found. I had to replace a rear axle, bearing, and hub and didn't have too many problems.

Personally, I like the 2g body style, especially the Talon's. :thumb:

i LOVE my AWD TSI :D

don't think i'll ever get rid of it. Just if you buy an DSM it's very handy to know how to work on cars or to learn as i did. If you take care of it it'll be nice to you, otherwise it won't run often. Or at least in my experience

Since you are new to DSM's, I would suggest finding a DSM shop near your location that you can go to when you need help and are still learning about your car. Also, the best way to learn about your car is to pick up a Hayne's/Chilton's and start taking things apart.:thumb:

you just have to know where to look. But you could also pick up an awd talon and get new front and rear bumpers and tail lights and...look at that! its an eclipse gsxOMG

and on another note, 1g 6 bolt's do come with a better intake manifold, better blow off valve, and a bigger turbo, but it also has beefier connecting rods and they can handle a little more power in the bottom end. The only thing the 7bolt really has going for it is a slightly better flowing head and a slightly better flowing exhaust manifold.

The 2gs also have a better flowing MAS, higher compression pistons, larger throttle body elbow, better flowing 02 housing, etc. They both have their ups and downs.
