I assume this will just bolt up but would like a couple of opinions.

Come on guys, remember the No "Use the Search" replies. Many people do believe it to be an upgrade. Even though the ports on a 2G head are smaller the head flows better than the 1G so actually performs better until you get right to the top of the power band. There are plenty of posts on the forum that support your decision. As noted earlier, you will have to have the holes in the 2G head drilled since 7-Bolt head bolts are 11mm and 6-Bolt head bolts are 12mm.

I'm running this combo. Only thing you have to do is get the holes for the head bolts enlarged a little bit. You can actually force the stock head bolts through the 7bot head, but that's not recommended. If you use arps you have to enlarge the holes. What ever you don't start the 1g vs 2g head, which is better debate. It will lead nowhere but arguing back and forth if you want to see the oppions from both side on this search and there are plenty.

yeah i have a ported 2g head but wanted to put it on a 2.4

As in the port work for the oil mod has been done, or the intake ports are ported out? If the intake ports are ported out, you have just completely wasted your time and effort in putting a 2g head on a 6 bolt block. The reason some feel a 2g head is better is because it has smaller intake ports, therefore increasing the velocity at which the air enters the combustion chamber, thus more efficiently filling the chamber.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "ported 2g head?"
