I am looking into buying a '91 Talon TSI AWD and the seller stated that the balance shaft needed replaced. He also told me that it does have bent valves. I found a 2G head for pretty cheap but I need to know if they will work together before i go spending all my money. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The 2g head will fit on a 1g block with minor modifications. Someone has to open up the holes for the head bolts/studs 1mm or so. A machine shop can do it in 30 minutes probably for less than 50 dollars. This would be popular for someone with a 2g car, but you said you were looking at a 1g. A 2g head on a 1g would just complicate things, so your best bet would be to just find a 1g head... You can find them for $100-$200 dollars on the classifieds. The complicatons include porting the 2g intake manifold for the 1g throttle body, and messing with different sensors. Not to mention the larger intake ports of the 1g Head.
