So recently both brake lights went out on my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS.

I thought it could be the bulbs, changed those no luck. Thought maybe the fuse, changed it just in case, no luck. Then ran across some forums saying it could be the brake pedal switch, got under the driver side pedals follows everything and came to this empty connector. Now I see this gap where the brake pedal goes to, I’m not sure if I need the whole adaptor to the sensor or is it the small rubber piece I’m missing to make the connection?

I’m new to this problem and it’s my first 2g. I’ll attach a photo and hopefully gives some clarity.
