I was driving home the other day in my car and the battery light on the dash turned on and after I got home and parked the car and turned it off it won’t even try and start up again.

I can hear the clicking in the engine when I turn the key all the way to start it, but the dash is barely lit and the interior lights don’t work and when I push the brake pedal, it cuts power to pretty much everything in the car.

I tested my battery and I’m getting 12.6 V so I don’t think it’s a problem with the battery and I tried jumping my starter relay and that didn’t help the problem either. The car is basically just dormant. All the lights are shining at like 50% in the interior the headlights won’t turn on and neither will the brake lights.

I don’t know what else could be wrong with it. I was thinking it might be the alternator based on what I’ve seen online, but I’m not sure and I don’t know what else to check.
Thanks!

Voltage isn't what starts a car. Amperage is. The fact it reads 12.x is meaningless. You probably have a dead battery because your alternator quit working. Hence the battery light. Clean all your connections, charge the battery and test voltage static and while running. If it isn't 14.x ish while running you have something wrong in the charging circcuit. Car will run on battery alone but not for long.
BTW the symptoms you listed are spot on for dead battery or at a minimum bad connection. HIgh amperage draw (brake lights) will immediately shut down everything when battery is barely hanging on.

I charged the battery and the car is still showing all the same symptoms. I tried jumping the starter relay but still nothing happened. Any other ideas?

Find all the places were you have grounds and clean them with corse sandpaper or something similar. Usually around firewall and engine / trans mating area.

Adding additional grounds have helped me get a more instant start .

This recently helped me get mines running instead of cranking , also even tho I visually confirmed spark on all cylinders my coil pack was bad.
