I was told I need a new crank position sensor or a new camshaft position sensor to fix my sudden no-start issue, only problem is I have a 6 bolt motor swapped into my 99 GSX.. What type of sensors do you guys recommend I go with and which sensor is likely my culprit? And I know some motors the CPS does both jobs. So Im not sure anymore what Exactly I need, I so so vewy confuseded

EDIT -RESOLVED- Was not my CPS, simply a weak battery/insufficient jumper cables

You can get a Cam Angle Sensor, and RRE has a plug an play harness that you plug one end into your car's harness for Crank Position Sensor and Cam Position sensor, and the other end plugs onto the CAS. Then you can just remove the Cam Position Sensor and Crankshaft Position Sensor.

6 Bolt Motor Install Into a 2G Eclipse

Well Its a long story, the guy I bought the car from wasn't the owner of the vehicle so he has no information at all regarding what's done to the car so Im not sure if there is a 1g cas already installed or or 2nd gen or how does that work? Do 6 bolt motors, whether it has 2g head or not, use the 1gen sensors unless rewired? Or are they interchangeable? And do I need the crank position sensor or will my motor only be using the cas? Might be something I have to investigate myself but Im not sure what ill be looking at/for

i know that the 1g CAS WILL NOT fit the 2g head. if you trying to figure out if the CPS is the problem, next time you go to start the car look at the RPM needle in the dash. If it DOES NOT bounce alttile when you go to crank it then the CPS is bad and you need a new one. i hope this helps you out.

Uhm, a 1g CAS will most definitely fit on a 2g head.

So there isn't 2 different sensors on my 6 bolt swap, Just one sensor that does the job of both, located on passenger side, on side Of valve cover?

Most likely. If one of those fancy plug-and-play harnesses was used, you should be able to trace back the harness connector at the cam sensor back to two separate connectors on the engine harness. That would mean the 1G cam sensor is doing all the work.

The alternative would be if there is a Kiggly 6-bolt crank sensor in there, in which case the 1G cam sensor is only providing the cam signal. This isn't nearly as common as the PnP harness or hard wiring the 1G cam sensor in.
