Okay, my auto tranny bellhousing was cracked pretty bad and I had it welded in a desperate effort but i still think it will be screwed. I found a 95 TSi fwd for 1000$ that still has a good auto tranny. Is it possible to use the tranny in my awd?
 
yes, but you will no longer have AWD. you will need to remove the drive shaft and transfer case.
