2G Auto to Manual swap - now speedo is off...

Does anyone know what I need to do to get my speedo accurate again? It's a 98 GSX that has been swapped from auto to manual..

Now the speedo is fast by about 10mph. I realized that when I was doing indicated 80mph and people still passing me like I'm a grandma.. I broke out GPS and sure enough 10mph off at all speeds.. I'm guessing the gear ratios are a bit different between each.

What can I do to fix this, if anything?!!

PS - It still has the automatic ECU in it... This is the only thing I could think of that might be the prob... But don't want to get a new ECU if that won't fix it...

The ECU in your car isn't specific to the drivetrain it came with from the factory, a 2g GSX ECU is a 2g GSX ECU. The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) gear is different in the A/T and must be changed to the M/T gear when you do the swap. Its the the entire sensor itself, just the gear that c-clips into it, so don't spend the $80 for a new VSS just get the M/T gear for it which should cost about $30 from a dealer. I don't have CAPS access at work but if you'd like I can get you the Mitsu P/N this afternoon.

I looked up the speed sensor and didn't see an option to choose one for a manual trans or an automatic trans... I can't find the part that I need to change..

If you have access to that system and can get a part number I would be very grateful!!

...of course this is the year of the vehicle the transmission came out of.
