2g and 1g egr valves different?

Ok so my egr valve went bad on my 1g 7bolt motor so I took off the egr valve off my 2g 7 bolt to put on the 1g and the egr valves are different? The nipples where you attach the lines are on different sides. My question is, is it the same shcrap? I am thinking about blocking it off with some sheetmetal I have here And ill just cut it to make a blockoff plate. Should I just do that? Will I throw a CEL like it is right now with the bad EGR valve? Thanks

it will throw a code as long as there is no egr valve and it isnt disabled in the computer
