i'm looking to run in 11.5 range with my current setup.

How's does my setup look? I haven't had time to hit the track yet...whats a good time to shoot for with this setup? what's the tdo6 20g sweet spot in boost? i run 19-20 psi on pump gas with 8 counts knock. when i add race gas should i advance base timing from 5 degrees? Any tips or tricks you can help me with
 
A. Don't post bench racing threads.

B. Tune out the knock, it kills motors and power.

C. Just go to the damn track.

That's a good setup although I don't see any datalogging devices (wideband/pocketlogger/ something??) unless I'm blind but at least you are monitoring knock. I would try and get your knock count in the 0-7 range so the ECU doesn't pull your timing and rob you off power. You should use the AFC and add fuel across to enable this. When running race gas you should advance the base timing a little more upto where you feel the car begin to pull timing and play with AFC settings, boost and fuel pressure as well to achieve maximum power. :thumb:

I'm using tmo datalogger w/ laptop and egt guage for tuning devices. I have the base timing set 5 degrees. When I add race gas it's kinda hard to get timing advance down.So I lowered my fuel pressure to stock 37psi and help out tremendously instead of running 45 psi base fp. It helped out alot with part throttle response and helping me lower my timing advance .
 
A good friend who's on here, but doesn't post much, recently ran a 11.58@118 with a BR20g, 550's, 255HP, 3" exhaust, VPC/GCC, AFPR, ACT 2600, FMIC, stock 130k mile 120ish compression motor, shep trans. Luong88888 is his handle on here.

You're going to need 25+psi and race gas along with a lot of track time to get your times where you'd like them to be.
 
I'm running 264/272s, FP20g-05h/internal, 550s, 2600, VPC/GCC, 3", around 2900lbs race weight, best of 11.05 @ 123. Boost is around 26psi, timing 24 deg, fuel pressure 36psi, tuned for 1-2 knock count tops. car has gone 123+ mph on VP unleaded, doesnt seem to run any faster on C16 no matter what I change on fuel/timing.

Tort9320g....your car is the reason why I'm refusing to get another turbo. I seen your web page with videos of your car running. Your car runs awesome kee up good work.I've been hearing that there was black 93 awd DSM at atco raceway....running deep in the 11's on a 20g.Your 60fts and 1/8th mile times are very very impressive. Whats the trick? Since then i've been wanting to speak with you, to see if you can help me with my setup? So far this weekend I installed a built motor....Eagle Rods, 9.0:1 Ross pistons,mild ported head,arps,4 layer,no b-shafts. Now i can set boost where i needed to be!! I also custom modified my shifter assembly for ultra short throw and anti-shift fork breaking. It's awesome .Now i can shift like i never did before.
 
NJDSMGuru, first off thanks for your comments. We've also refused to give up on this "little" turbo when everyone has recommended a big, bad 50 trim or other flavor o' the week hybrid. When I go big, it's gonna be a worthwhile step up. My setup isnt much different from yours. I started out running mid 12s with this setup, and it's basically been alot of tuning and driving to get to where I am. I'm still running a stock 7 bolt and stock trans. the secret is sticky tires and 6k launches. I'm running 225/50 16 nitto DRs. What are you running for tires? I'd be happy to meet you at the track sometime to see if I can help you out.

i've got a frank 2 turbo and can't get a good launch. bogs down way to much. i've even tried at 6K, slipping the clutch and still can't get better than a 2.0 60ft. your launching yours pretty hard for a 1.5. got a studderbox or something?
 
I'm running some shitty Futura gtx's 225/50/16 on stock tsi wheels. All it does is spin them on hard launch.I want to get some stock 3g rx7 wheels with Greendot Retreads. They should definately hook up much better. I think thats my car's weak link tires and suspension. I also have msd dis 2 with stutter hooked up.I haven't lauched the car off it yet though. Tort what kinda base timing you running on your with race gas?
 
I think my car is running rich with 650cc's and 2g mas.I have walbro 255 lph fuel pump and stock regulator. What's the symptoms of fuel pressure regulator overrun? I My egts are topping out at 1400 in top of third gear .......the damn exhaust fumes are killing me.I'm running Ngk br7es plugs...i think they are making me run rich like this.the car is pulling harder than it ever has though. Everyone riding behind me says my car smells like straight fuel.i think it is time for an adj regulator like a sx unit.
 
Base timing is around 5 deg. I dont see how you can bog at 6k, are you taking it up there and holding it until the light goes or just blipping it at the last second? What about your car's weight, what flywheel,...? NJDSMguru, you definitely sound way rich. you should be seeing at least 1600 degrees F to make max power. I usually see at least 950c. remember also that timing affects EGTs, less base timing could mean unusually high EGT readings even though the car isn't too lean. are you using a wideband, logger, or any other monitoring?
 
i've launched the car 5k holding it there and just slip the clutch quick and my FRONT tires spun like crazy. I only netted a 1.8 60ft....everytime I used to launch the car my buddy said it was spinning like fwd before welded diff.Later that night I broke the diff and 3 bolt rear when trying to do it with 6k launch. I think my viscous was bad b/c it was a used tranny. Now that I have a good tranny with welded diff still has traction problems. Also..i just installed Charged air fpr and lowered my base fpr to 36 psi the car felt like it has way more bottom end and throttle response.I guess i was getting fpr over run. I have ngk br7es plugs and my car doesn't like em. It misses and sputters very often.It sarted as soon as I swapped in those plugs.I've been using TMO datalogger software via laptop but I haven't logged car since july. My laptop is broken.
 
I just use stock range plugs, the car runs fine on them. lose the magnetwhore wires and get some NGKs. they're nothing but problems. also, the MSD box could be your problem, they usually dont last very long. yank it and if you want a studderbox get a keydiver chip. when are you taking it to the track?
 
TORT9320g.....i went to the track and i got 1.73 60ft...but i was unable to make a full pass b/c ignition problems.I was really impressed with 60ft b/c i was full weight still and launched at 5000rpm on these pos futura's w/20psi tire pressure all around.
