How fast have you gone on a 20g tdo5h not the bastard 20g !

Back in 2000 I went 11.4 @ 120 on a td05 BR20g with O2 mounted external on street tires and C16. This was a full weight car, 92 Plymouth Laser RS AWD that weighed 3270 with me in it, with a completely stock bottom end including balance shafts, a little bit of head work but stock valves, springs and cams with a stock 1g intake manifold and throttle body and 2g exhaust manifold. I had a Mistu MLS headgasket with ARP head studs. I was running a TMO stage 3 ECU with a VPC w/ 550 chip and a SAFC for fuel tuning, 3" turbo back, BR FMIC.

yeah this is very impressive as said for the mods

so lets just say my 14b car ran 115.00 in the 1/4 how much mph do you think the 20g will pickup ? anyone ever switch from a 14b to a 20g......

Maybe i'm the only one, but i have yet to experience a mitsu turbo larger than a 16g that is the best choice in it's class. Meaning, price, spoolup, total power. I love 14b's, 16g's, and the t-series turbos are great when run in a twin setup like a 3000gt. Like a lot of people say, a 20g gives a little more that a 16g, with more lag. For the next step up from a 16g i like a 50 trim or garrett 30 series. Holset hx 35's are nice as well.

If you were running 19psi dropping to 15 by redline, I would think there would be quite a bit to gain with a 20g running 23psi+. Any less than that, and you are probably better off going with an e316g.
Have you considered switching to external wastegate?
I had the same boost dropoff when running internal on the 14b, with the external,it would hold 20psi rock steady all the way which was quite a difference in performance alone.

Is your car awd or fwd? You may want to consider something bigger than a 20g. You must already be having traction issues if your running mid 13s at 115mph. If you're awd, than i don't know what's going on behind the wheel.

well the turbo wouldn't keep up it was maxed by 5800-6000 33-34 lbs/min, thats why the boost dropped but the airflow was the same. i plan on running the most boost i can get away with on 93+meth ! yes that was on street tires on my passport g-timer "g-tech" very accurate. i pulled my buddies mustang by 1-1/2 to 2 cars just in a 3rd gear pull and he goes 109 in the 1/4 ! i never made it to the track on the 14b with my slicks. the car will spin both tires to about 60-70 mph and i have a good working drop in lsd .

well i got the 20g installed and all i can say is its a definate increase in power. but from 2000-5000 the 14b will hang with the 20g but after that it pulls like a freaight train. i logged 38-40 lb/min @ 19lbs ! i am having to re tune so not maxed on pump yet and i got my alcohol kit installed but i have to pick which nozzle to start with

How much boost were you guys able to run on pump 93 ! i can only get about 18-19 and i have to pull 1-2 deg from 4000-6000 ?

Thats kind of how I felt when I switched to the b16g from the 14b/7cm. The 14b would definitely hang to about 5500rpm, but after that is where the bigger turbo shows its value!
It seems like it moved the power curve to higher rpm for sure.

Glad to hear its working out for you, other than some fine tuning!

it sure does i was shifting my 14b around 6100-6200 now it pulls to 7100-7200 even with my stock 2g head and intake ! i have a 1g head and intake but i have been debating changing them !

Yeah, that's about the same rpm change for me as well:D
I would probably stick with the 2g head and maybe go with evo3/rvr IM matched to a 1g 60mm TB.
I'm adding a SMIM,cams, and more boost within the next few weeks to see what that does for me

i already have a 1g nt 60mm tb ! i'm happy with this combo i just have to finish the tune on meth and go to the track. it feels real good on 19-20 lbs !

11.70's @117 on a tdo5H 20G. I had 550 rc injecters, walbro 255hp, 2g mass, and afc. Base pressure set to 55 psi, running 1.8-2.0 bar of boost. Stock motor, with 272/272 hks cams. 1990 talon awd.

well i have done a few logs on the meth at 19-20 psi but my maf calibration was off alittle . my 70-90 times was 2.1 which is saying is right around 118-119 mph in the quarter. it feels really good rolling through 3rd gear it will spins the tires when coming into boost and before the 14b wouldn't do that. can't wait to even the afr curve out to around 11.2-11.5 and turn the boost up !

Is this the Bolt-on style 20g you're talking about?with a J-pipe?Or is this a 20g that needs a 90* elbow/coupler?

Should be the type with the 90* coupler. That's usually considered a tdo5h 20g, whereas the one with a J-pipe is usually called a bastard 20g/sleeper 16g. Internally both turbos are exactly the same it's just that they have different compressor housings.

Duddy forgot to mention that one of the main differences from when he was running 11.40's to now (besides a healthy transmission) is that we fixed a 1/8" hole in the compressor cover that was cast into it and was never noticed upon install.

I bought the turbo used and it doesnt appear to be ported at all. I was running ~27psi. I couldnt back up the 10 second pass, but did run 3 11.0xx's

That's movin' ... and those 11.0's back up a 10.96...
