Yea there are no numbers on it just that blank stamp..

Thats a 16g

Looks like a ebay 16g to me
Actually guys, most of the eBay Chinese bolt-on 20G's for our cars are based on the Evo III 16G platform, and will look identical to an Evo III from the outside much like an authentic Sleeper 16G / Bastard 20G. I can tell by the size of the inlet that this turbo is, indeed, a 20G....but it's definitely a Chinese 20G.

Here's an eBay 20G I rebuilt for a customer last year around this time; identical to an eBay 16G in every way except the larger compressor wheel:

I did not know this, Thanks jusmx, good to know. :thumb:

so that ebay 20g is good now that it was rebuilt?
Seemingly so. It was as tight as a new one when it left the shop, and I know I use better internals in a rebuild than the Chinese use when the turbo was new.

do you know if it had any problems since?
That customer actually ran this turbo on his daily driver around 23psi until mid-summer and sold it to upgrade; as far as I know it's still boosting.

Im still at shock someone paid to rebuild an ebay turbo
It cost the customer less than half the price of a replacement eBay 20G, and since there was no wheel damage the turbo was as good as a new one when it left.

You'd be surprised to see some of the junk that I get in at the shop. I specify to most customers before they even ship the turbo that there cannot be any noticeable wheel damage for it to be considered a rebuildable core. I do this to protect myself as well as the customer- if they send me a turbo with obvious wheel damage, it's going to cost well beyond the price of a standard rebuild.

Regardless, I'll still get turbos in with shaft play that is so bad that the compressor fins are hooked backwards, and the customer is almost always shocked when I tell them that it cannot be rebuilt using the existing rotating assembly. If they're really cheap they'll try to get me to piece something together in order to keep the cost down, and I make sure they know that I'm half-assing the job by reassembling a turbo with known wheel damage or shaft scoring that any warranty service will not be honored.

Hey jusmx,
Do I have any upgrade options fir my exsiting turbo.. 14B with a ported E3 exhaust housing? I'm looking to upgrade..

An thanx guys I thought it was a ebay special, Since it's selling real cheap, But I'm not a turbo guys so thanx for all the input.. :)

Yea looking 20g, But internal gate:(. Let me know. Maybe we could swing something with my turbo.. :)

Justin, that is great to know that I can upgrade from my rebuilt 14b (courtesy of Justin) to a sleeper 20g as a complete bolt on.

Lovely :sneaky:

That would be perfect, Thats what I would want to do..
