Alright trying to get some advice if buying 2 91 awd talons for $1500 is worth it.
Both cars haven't been drove for a couple years. One was hit in front and can't be driven. I only have pictures on one that the guy says has new clutch and will drive but it too hasn't been driven for a couple years. I started out looking for a parts car for my 90. So would it be worth it?

well 2 awds for 1500 ...i like that sound...but be ready to replace alot of hoses, lines, fluids, if your ready for a big project then i think its worth it ..... good luck

I was thinking the same thing as you on the eprom's

The guy says the other one before it was wrecked passed cali emissions so I would assume the engine is in decent shape. But we all know what happens when we assume with dsm's

Yeah I was thinking about getting the one running good try to fix the front bumper and driver fender then primer it and it should look better. The guy says he has new headlight and the parts for front bumper are all there.

Try and make yourself one good one and then part out the other car. You should be able to recover most of your money

I think it is well worth it. That is 750 a piece. Which I think they would be more than worth it in parts. Hell get the better one going and sell it and make your money back and you will have gotten a free parts car.

That was exactly my thought too. The bonus is both are awd's so I can swap my 90 over because it has a new stroker engine and a bad tranny so its been sitting since i've rebuilt it.

Would you guys pay $1500 for the 91 talon awd pictured if all the front was re-assembled and the front primered or the whole car primered?

The guys says it was running when he parked it but just to keep from replacing all the vacuum lines or very many lines like tsi4g63dohc had mentioned I would get rid of emissions. :hellyeah:

Check for the 4 bolt rear diff. They came out in middle of that year. If they both have it than theres $1000 well worth it.

Wrong- the 4-bolts were halfway through the 1992 year.

These cars will both have 6-bolt engines, and probably useful transmissions and transfer cases....but the 3-bolt rears and single-piston front calipers will be useless.

Definitely will do the only problem is the cars are almost 4 hours away, so its hard to see the shape they are in. Like everyone else and I was thinking parts alone should be worth it much less having one that runs.

Sorry my bad I got them confused. they came out with the lsd rear diff on the models with out abs. thats what i ment.

let me know if you get these, i may need a part or two my self:)
i would try to see if he would go a little lower too, can't hurt can it.

I will let you know when I get them. Originally the guy wanted $1500 snd then $200 to bring them to me. I talked him in to $1400 including shipping. Which fine with me it would cost me more to go get them its almost a 4 hour trip one way.

I guess one is a 90 not a 91 but that's fine with me. Are the 91 tranny's stronger then the 90? If that's the case I will either put my engine in it or swap the tranny in mine.

Well got the cars today :hellyeah: Now comes time for the work the one does run decent has a little idle problem but nothing like my original one has. Reading up on converting my fwd to awd and looks like too much work for me. So looks like I will sell the tranny. If you guys are looking for parts let me know what you need. The part car is actually a 90 front seats are gone but it does have decent looking rear Leather seats

Thanks for all the advice fill free to pm with any questions or if anyone wants to trade a fwd tranny for a awd tranny :sneaky:

I bought a GSX for $250, and a parts Talon for $500. The GSX was running, the TSI was not. ;D I've already made my money back from the Talon, parting it out, and still have 70% of it left! And the GSX is beginning it's break in process tomorrow!

Buy and either

A : Part one out and build the other.
B : Part both out, get lots of money, Buy a moderatly modded one or build one yourself with the money you now have!

I definitely would do so!!!

But the fact I just got a 92 talon for 750 clean title that runs good. a good body and passes emissions here in MO is a really good deal then huh LOL.
