That is your ISC (Idle Speed Controller). If you broke it you may notice that your idle nay be screwy. That design of ISC is a POS anyway as the coils always fail on them. Mitsubishi has replaced that style with a new one with a black plastic casing on them. It has held up great so far.

Thanks dude. Not what I wanted to hear but at least I know now. Moral of the story: be careful tightening on crap when you don't know what it does.

so what's exactly broken about it

haha my carpet is shot anyway. I tightened it down to tight and one of the holes the bolts go through broke off. I found one off a 92 for $20 shipped though so its all good
