Resolved 1G Pop up headlights don't work

So, i have searched everywhere, including the manual, and i am stumped. The popups haven't worked on my car since i bought it, and i'm tired of hand cranking them.

Recently i have changed the entire headlight harness, as the previous owned hacked in some h4's, and my car caught fire as a result. The diode, under hood fuse, and relay are fine. The passing control relay is functional, but not getting power. The under hood fuse only has 8v across it as well. The headlights, function perfectly, just no actuation of the popups.

What have i missed?

I believe the motors are not working

By the passenger shock tower, you see that fuse/relay box that contains the relays to operate the motors when you either press on the button on the dash, or rotate the turnsignal end to turn on the lights (and it needs the key on in ACC or ON to operate). Check first for the relay that does this task, then fuse link in the fusebox that controls the motors..

Headlight door motors don't poof out that easily.

The under hood fuse is not blown, but it only has 8v across it. The underhood relay is functional, i tested it. The diode in the passenger kick panel is functional, the passing control relay in the driver kick panel works, but isn't getting power, in cabin fuse #1 is fine. The headlight switch works to turn on the parking, and headlights. No current to the headlight motors. Also, no power to the pop up switch.

If i can't find a solution, i will wire up a relay to the pop up switch on the dash to control the pop ups.

Check your negative battery connection then for it has to be clean and tight along with the positive one. You're prob not getting a complete ground connection then if you're getting voltage that low of reading - why the motors aren't spinning.

Every other circuit is 12v. I have grounding straps.

Got the power straightened out to the motors, and custom wired the pop up switch to a relay. I now have working popups. Fixed

Congrats, but a warning that you created a solution, yet not solved the source of the problem in which this really needs attention to be on the safe side ....

The problem was hacked wiring from a previous owner trying to do a ricer headlight control mod. The wiring from the popup switch, and the wiring that goes to the popup circuit from the headlight switch was hacked. I ran a new pop up circuit from the pop up switch to the popup relay.

There are now no open powered wires under my dash, and a cable from the alternator no longer runs directly to my headlights. I would say it is safely fixed.

Hi, so I know this thread is really old, but I'll take my chances as I've tried to look everywhere.
I also have a swap and the previous owner did a bad job wiring. I now have not-working/wired pop-up headlights and I'd like to wire them. I have 5 pins or 8 pins relays, the headlight motors and the 5 wires that come out of the motor.

I have minimal knownledge in electricity, so I'd like to ask for your help in making a diagram to make my pop-ups work, going up and down with a switch ONLY and not the headlights lights.
