I have been wondering why my pop ups won't pop up, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask (I'm new). I took a look because buddy told me that the motor wasn't connected to the headlight. I have an image to show, and I'm just asking where to get the piece that connects the motor and the arm that moves the headlight? (Also asking what it's called) Thanks for any help!

It looks like your missing the entire motor assembly. That arm operates the pop-up mechanism, but is usually connected to the bellcrank on the motor, where yours is just hanging in the air. I think there are actually replacements of these, start with rock auto or parts geek.

Ah! I see. The black part over the screw thing. Just gotta figure out what it's called. Thanks!

The parts catalog simply calls it “MOTOR, w/Bracket”; MB542477 and 78 (left and right). Rock auto has them for about $100, but no bracket, by the photo shown. I cant quite tell if your bracket is still present.

No, they aren't. I tried looking for them around the car considering a bunch of leftover broken parts were lying in the back, and couldn't find anything of similarity. Although the black circular object upon the screw is what the bracket is, correct?

The good news is that every 90 and 91 DSM had these pop-up lights, so even today they should be obtainable. The bracket doesn’t really wear out, like a motor will eventually. So you should be able to source some from an auto recycler without too much difficulty. You might start with contacting Performance Partout, as suggested by 1990TSIAWDTALON.

The item visible in your photo is the linkage arm; it transfers the motor movement to the popup assembly, and has an adjustment on the arm to properly match motor position and popup position. The motor pushes that arm, and the light pops up.
