I wanted to just check what the process is of taking the ECU in/out (1G).

I need to check my ECU to see if it's a eprom(code that ends in "E" = eprom?).

So I simply unbolt the 4 bolts you can see holding it in w/ brackets? Then unplug the wires to the ECU? That's what I would think would need to be done.

I don't want to do it wrong and short out something or who knows.

Thanks.

e=eprom. but double check, disconnect battery, then pull the computer . pull the 4 scews on top and pop the top. biggest thing is cut off the power to the system. hope thats what u needed.

Is it the only way for it to come out? Do I need to take out some interior?
It's how I removed mine. I Removed the battery terminals before I started. Then remove the trim panels on each side of the center console. There are 2 bolts on the drivers side & 1 bolt on the passenger side. Remove them. Pull the ECU out towards the passenger side. There are 3 plugs (mine are yellow) connecting the ECU to the wiring harness. You must depress the small tab in the center of each plug to release them.

Just wanted to ad a question

Can the wires be moved far or do the have to be unplug with the ecu behind the stereo

Or can I pull the ecu towards the passenger side the remove the clipse afte rits halfway out.

Cause I can get mine out and I don't wanna break nothing

You don't have a whole lot of room to pull the ecu out any farther to unclip them. It'll be more feeling through the dark to hook/unhook the plugs.

I kind of twist the ecu over towards the drivers side and grab the plugs from the passenger side. That has been the easiest way for me.

Finally someone mentioned that it only has 3 bolts holding the ECU in place, not 4. Good post!

I always pull mine out to the passengers side too.
