I only had this problem once before with my 1993 eclipse gs. I sold it and the current owner was for warned about it before the sale was made.

It was raining out the other day so I had to stop working on everything. I went out there the next day and opened my hatch to get the extension cord out of the cargo area of my talon and water started pouring like crazy from behind the plastic hatch cover on the inside of the car.

I put a brand new OEM hatch weather seal on and it still gets full of water everytime it rains. I dont have access to park it in a garage so thats out of the question.

Can anyone please help me get this problem fixed and fast? Im looking for the cheapest way out that dont involve me replacing the whole hatch and glass, or having to remove the glass at all.

I'm gonna inspect the rear wing mounting bolts today to make sure that my wing is on tight and that the rubber gaskets are not shot. I need this fixed fast as the wood floor coverings under the carpet and the wood spare tire cover are all in mint and I don't want to put them in until this is fixed to prevent them from warping and turning into trash.

I had this same problem on a 94 talon I had. I did two things one was to take clear silicone and seal the back window trim. The second thing was to take the wing and wiper cover off and use some more silicone on all the openings. Make sure you have some rags for clean up.

I know how you feel, my GST does the same thing. Do you happen to have a sunroof? If you do, check to make sure the drain lines aren't clogged or disconnected from the exterior drains.

I know this seams to be a redundant ? but, did you recently get a new hatch seal or did you have it on hand? could you point me in a direction to get one. i believe all the vendors are out.

im gona guess this is very common on 15-20 year old cars. mine leaks. y try everything but metal around glass isnt good. so guess some some body work and weatherstrip will fix it. me im gona live with a very small leak. i keep the plastic cover off so water dont sit there and bought a car cover. anyone has a leak in the front? check groomet under the fenders

Probably leaking from the spoiler bolt holes.
My Talon leaks there too.
On another note isn't silicone bad to use on a car?
I was under the impression it will make your metal rust, because water can't escape.

it could cause corrosion, but i willing to bet it was improperly applied to begin with. proper prep and application would avoid that problem.

Update. I just put a new boot on the rear wiper arm today. The original one didn't look bad at all. It was still flexible and not all dry rotted or cracked up. I wasn't able to test it out but I'm shure its not my problem. My spoiler feels to be tight but looks like the gasket is missing on the post on the passengers side (Lucky I had a spare from a 93 talon I found in the junk yard). Should I just put RTV silicon sealant on the bolt holes on the rubber gasket?

You can get slip on weather strip at autozone for it to work great but you have to join the 2 ends together at the very top of the hatch opening. I used a small rubber hose and rubber cemented it in there to make it complete when I had my 1993 eclipse gs.
I have all brand new seals on all my doors and windows even the sunroof has new inner and outer seals. I also have brand new door window sweeps that I'm putting on when I get her repainted.
I got all of it from my uncle. He has 5 more complete sets of all the trims for around the outside of the windows, all the weather seals, and the window seals. He has them for his car in case one of his gets damaged or aged badly, and for restorations.
As for vendors not having them. I'm shure some vendors can still get them or they can get OEM replacements. You just have to search and find them. Try DSMGraveyard, or JNZ Tuning. They might be able to get what you need.

Instead of RTV, try permatex No 2 non-hardening gasket sealant. That stuff is great. It'll hold gaskets in place during assembly, for sure, but it's also good for sticking the plastic sheet inside your door panels back to the door shell. I've seen corrossion under RTV, but it was bare steel/weld, which was already rusty.
