Resolved 1G Cranks but won't start

93 eclipse auto and 6 bolt. Was to the point of running ok on the fic 1650s, did a small change on global to lean it out a bit, the car did not like it, died right away. Since then no fire and just sounds different while turning over, starter and the pumping noise of the motor. Seems really odd for a non event. Plugs all dry, connections all good.

So make sure timing didn't slip, fuses?

Check timing, compression etc. If the physical function of turning over sounds different, then I suspect issues with the mechanical aspect of it.

where it stopped, just noticed throttle showed 97%, it wasnt. today it reads fine.

Check the throttle cable and make sure the sleeve doesn't slip out of the ferrule. Open throttle might make cranking sound funny also

Turned it over more than 6 times, nothing was close to lining up. Belt is tight, see no reason for it to jump. Makes no sense.

Belt may appear tight but I bet it isn't. Check the actual tension and check that all the teeth are there

They touched, still not sure why, everything looked good.

Well I'm not sure how this affects timing tension yet but apparently when they swapped the 7 bolt for the 6 bolt they used the 7 bolt tensioner.

Starting from beginning could be good idea. Checking mechanical timing is correct. Measure battery voltage. Id unplug injector wires and take plugs out and crank the motor to see if spark is ok while plugs are hanging(need a friend). If this checks out ok id look in to fuel issue like fuel pressure is ok and injectors are getting voltage. Reset your injectors where they should mostlikely be in link. Also take a look at stupid things like your water temp sensor showing normal reading in link.

Edit: i just noticed you said timing not lining up. This is mostlikely cause. I once had motor that had skipped 2 teeth and did not start up. Did not break anything tho. Only way to have slack in belt would be bad hydraulic tensioner or fully extended with inproper installation of pulley i think.

I’d get the head rebuilt for sure. There’s no reason to put it back together to have a slightly bent valve.
