1998 Eagle Talon TSI

Got this Talon TSI AWD for free, pretty bad rear damage.
I didnt pay anything for the car and its a automatic.
Everything is pretty clean, it runs strong.
Sorry about posting again, cant find my other thread.

My questions are, pay to get the rear damage fixed? Take engine, tranny, interior (Things I want off it and try to find a rolling Talon TSI AWD auto body and swap it all over.

new to dsm, this is probably a newb question, but as long as its a 2gen automatic all wheel drive chassis and body does it matter what year 2nd gen or if its a Talon or Eclipse that i swap it into.

but i wouldnt fix it. you will spend alot of money and it will never drive the same again. not bad for free though. always good to have a parts car on your hands. not too high on miles either.

You'll want an AWD chasis or you'll need to do a lot of fabrication to accommodate the driveshaft etc. Search for "AWD SWAP" and you'll find plenty of threads describing what you'd need to do to swap an AWD drivetrain into a FWD chasis.

Then strip the shit out of the smashed one and part it out to make some money back or just to have spare parts for when you break something.

Ouch! That rear end looks pretty rough. Honestly, if it were me, I would use it for a parts car. Strip everything that's still in good condition and swap it over to a rolling chassis with no damage. You'll have to do a bit of searching, but they're definately out there. It, also, doesn't have to be just a rolling chassis. Try to find another reasonably priced 2g Talon that has, say, a manual trans and an entire interior that you're not fond of. Swap everything over to it and sell off as much of the remaining stuff you don't need as you can. Everything else that you aren't able to sell off, take it to the junkyard.

I'm just trying to give you a few ideas. From my experience, these cars turn into money pits fast if you're not careful. So, instead of paying an arm and a leg to have a body shop straighten the rear end out, put it back together, and paint it, just find one that's not screwed up already. It'll end up being a lot less of a headache in the end, AND you'll most likely end up paying less for a different car with no damage at all.

Or can it all be swapped into a 2nd Gen, GST or Talon TSI FWD?
Just trying to find out what roller i need to be looking for.

+2. Rear end on that sucker looks shot. Could affect the transfer case and rear axles and such. I would definitely get a roller. A lil more work, but you will be thankful in the end. Maybe have a mechanic check it and see if its even fixable with a quote

Yes, sir, you would. Just make sure that the rear drivetrain hasn't suffered any major damage and find another AWD to swap into. Again, it can be a roller, as everyone has stated, or it can be a car that's already running but needs some mechanical work. In either case, you have a parts car that you didn't pay a dime for! You're already ahead of the game . An AWD chassis or running car, either or, with a manual trans will be a plus for you. Start searching my friend!

i would take what you want out of it and find a roller and make it a 5 speed/
but if you want an auto then fix what you have,
but remember no matter who fixes the car and how good they are you may never get the rear perfect and that could cause problems later on if you plan to make it fast.

There's some definate frame damage there. May not be worth repairing.
