I'm changing the timing belt in my 1998 Eclipse Spyder, it has the 4G64 SOHC engine in it. I've got the engine on a stand with 90k mi on the clock, so before I put it in to replace one that was over heated, I wanted to do the pm while it is easy to get to, water pump, belts, etc.

So my question has to do with the timing belt, I lined up the timing marks and put a large Phillips screwdriver in the side of the block and removed the old belt, tensioner and pulleys and replaced them with the new ones and everything lined up just as it was before and measure in specs.

How many revolutions of the timing belt should the marks line up again? I've found a few answers by searching, 6 and they should line up but I also saw 2 cam rotations for every one of the crank. I can't get my head around this and want to be sure it's right before I fire it up and bend the valves.

If I rotate it 2 times all but the oil pump marks line up, if I turn it 6 times all timing marks line up?
