Haha that Fit is pretty beast :p

Pretty sweet update here :) I have been talking about this for far too long and now it has finally happened. So without further ado, here is my update

July 14, 2012 - A/C Install

After driving in the summer heat again, I decided now was the time to put the a/c back in. I realized I was missing a few lines so I got what I needed from a local parts car seen here (Also got a few other random parts from it :p)

Decided to change the expansion valve before getting it filled
DSC_0924.jpg

DSC_0925.jpg

While putting the compressor in I decided I would relocate my afpr and install a manual gauge back onto it to verify base fuel pressure...it was off LOL, explains my tune issue I guess

Screwed it down to a board to break loose the electronic sending unit

Hole needed to be enlarged on the bracket so out came the drill
DSC_0930.jpg

I needed a new longer line to move the afpr so onto the stove it went
DSC_0932.jpg

Needed to get the compressor in while the afpr was out of the way, tight fit
DSC_0929.jpg

So everything was in..dryer was replaced, expansion valve was replaced, compressor was drained of oil. Everything seemed like it was ready to go, so into the shop it went for round 1.
162c53fe.jpg

Annnddd, it wouldn't pull a vacuum. Shot some freon in and it started blowing out of the condenser, fantastic. So out it came and I had it patched up

aed3cc32.jpg

Then back for round 2.

And the compressor wouldn't kick on :ohdamn: If the relay was jumped it kicked on, but no other way. So I took it home just to see if the fans were working and the pressure valve blew on the compressor after running it for a few seconds, awesome. Luckily, the shop is amazing to deal with so he refilled it for me for free.

So I took out the ACCU to see if it looked bad...yeah I had no idea if it was or not, whatever.

I found a local who had eliminated his A/C but didn't take anything out of the interior. I asked him if I could grab it and he agreed. So, unplugged mine, plugged his in and boom, working A/C.

July 14, 2012 - Car Show Trip

All of this was just in time for a trip to Arkansas for a car show. Drove it down there, ran the A/C occasionally, overheated once. Got runner up in the import class, friend that I drove down with got first in his VW CC (which is uber sexy).

The vacuum line for the boost gauge broke off at some point, so out came the super glue.

Made it home alright, now time for the next update after having A/C for a bit

July 22, 2012 - Hood is finally on

The car kept overheating on hot days with the a/c on, so I decided it was time for the vented hood to go on. I am going to have a heat shield made and get a better pusher fan to replace the 10" Mishimoto here soon.

Decided on placement for the hood latches so I drilled my hole
597dc187.jpg

Pin is in (anti-seize on top to mark the hood where to drill into it)
7d219cb3.jpg

They were way too long though, so I shortened them afterwards (actually took another inch off after this as well)
DSC_1017.jpg

Drilled out the hole in the hood and got the hood to close. Got these handy dandy outlines for the latch hole, so I put them on and decided on position. Also put down an old sheet to keep the engine bay from getting too dirty

Time to cut this piece of crap up
DSC_0001.jpg

All cut up, hood latches go in and holes are drilled, so time to finish sanding it and plastidip it

First coat done
DSC_0009-1.jpg

Put a couple more coats on to even it out and on the car it went
DSC_0011-1.jpg

DSC_0010-1.jpg

And I put some mesh in to keep bugs/debris/small children out (painted it black)
837ad1ab.jpg

be7b350b.jpg

And that is all, doesn't overheat as much but still does some on really hot days with the a/c on like it did before. I will be having the side vents filled in sometime and paint the hood if I decide that I want to keep it on. With some paint I think it will look much much better

Please, give us some news or more pics!
I'm just in love with your car, man!

Ask and ye shall recieve...much later than asked, but oh well LOL

can you post pictures of your carpet after the dye?

Yes, let me clean the car up this afternoon and I will try and snap a pic or two of it. Sorry for the wait.

August 11, 2012 - Broken pressure plate, new clutch in

Well...had a little mishap the other night...

Did a couple pulls last night while it was raining (yes, sliding around, it is fun at times LOL). Anyhow, I thought I heard a rattling noise while turning to meet up with some locals after doing said pulls. Didn't think much of it...but then I heard it again. And I also felt that my clutch pedal had lost some pressure. Got to Pineapple Whip and look under my car to see if anything was loose or dragging, nothing was. Went to leave after hanging out for a couple hours and I heard the clanking/rattling again...at this point I am thinking broken center diff, something wrong with the trans, etc. Limped it home and jacked it up to see if an axle had broken or anything like that...nothing. So the next morning when I jacked it up again and pulled back the clutch fork boot, out fell that^^^^

(The mark on there is from something else, there are no marks on the fork from rubbing against anything)

Turns out I have had an ACT Streetlite flywheel (or a very good lookalike) since I have owned the car, so I got it measured and it was within spec thickness wise, so I had it resurfaced and put it back on.

Went with a Southbend 2200# pp and love it, no gripes so far after 500 miles. Clutch engagement/disengagement is so much smoother with the full face kevlar disk. I am just happier all around with the clutch. Although I do have a rather irritating thing that happened...my 10k mile OEM tob sounded rough when I pulled it out, so I found another low mile oem tob in my garage that didn't make a peep. Well now I have tob noise, so the trans will have to come part way out so I can change that mothereffer. I am trying to see how little I can take off and just slide the trans out to reach it and replace it. Shitty luck to say the least. Tried going with the tob that wouldn't cause me any problems and it did. Too bad I was trying to get it finished by a certain day or I could have just ordered a new oem. Anyhow, more updates soon to come.

You know I'm getting a rattle too...and my clutch is slipping when I get on it in 3rd :hmm:. Could it be I had the same failure? I'm running an ACT combo as well.

Car is looking good. You've always had one of my favorite avatar pics.

September 16, 2012 - BLT, E85 goo, and goodies

Welp, slight update. TOB is still making noise but I don't feel like changing it until winter so I am leaving it as is for now. I have had an idle issue for a while now where it idles high for a few seconds before dropping back down to regular idle. Checked the isc and it was good but replaced it anyhow, no change. Tune hasn't changed any so it shouldn't be the tune. So I did a blt to see if I had any major leaks and actually did find a couple larger ones. My throttle body shaft seals were leaking so I pulled it out to do the rebuild with orings. Well in the process of prying out the metal sleeves, I messed it up some, so of course it leaked. Luckily a local DSMer had a 1g throttle body lying around, so I picked that up and put it on.

Old on left, new on right
DSC_0132.jpg

While I had the tb off I noticed that my intake manifold was extremely filthy, I don't understand how though. No pcv valve going into it, and no egr either. Also not a spec of dirt on the tb plate or in the intake pipes, but this in the intake manifold.
DSC_0123.jpg

DSC_0133.jpg

Any ideas where all of this came from??

The tb wasn't the only leak though. One of my injectors was leaking around the bottom seal, so I pulled it out to put a dab of rtv in the usual spot...and found this...again...on all four
DSC_0125.jpg

After cleaning them up a bit. I switched to pump gas for a tank to clean them out thoroughly though.
DSC_0131.jpg

So I got everything back together and didn't find any more major leaks. The car still has the high idle at startup for some reason but it isn't nearly as bad. A few days after getting it back together though, it was hit yet again. This will be the THIRD time within a year. At least this one wasn't a hit and run thank god. Guys insurance should be paying to fix it all.
DSC_0134.jpg

DSC_0145.jpg

Pushed in the rear panel, scratched the bumper, and dented the hatch some. Everything will be fixed and painted as soon as they cut me the check. It works out though, the bumper needed repainted anyhow since it was hit two weeks after being repainted the last time. The hatch was cracked around the wiper hole from the paint job as well, so my painter will be fixing that properly this time.

In the meantime, I picked up a few goodies. I have been wanting a Tial BOV for a while now, so when I saw one for a good price I decided to pick it up. Also ordered the uicp straight from vrspeed for a good price so I didn't have to find a bung to be welded on.
DSC_0149.jpg

DSC_0150.jpg

Hit the top of the Tial with some polish, really helped out a lot
DSC_0152.jpg

And last but not least, time to go lower for fun haha. I picked these ksports up for a steal with a blown rear shock. I disassembled the rears and the blown one still has some pressure in it, so I am going to throw them on and see what happens. There is no performance aspect to what I will be doing, it is just for looks, and it will probably be super impractical so it will probably be temporary...but who knows, it may work out.
DSC_0151.jpg

Updates with the paint work done and moar low hopefully soon, stay tuned folks

Sold the ksports for a pretty decent profit...bought a new phone with it haha. Have a Galaxy S3 to try out android for a bit and I am really liking it. Iphone 5 is still tempting though. Also took the car in to get it fixed from the minor collision.

Only 1 picture for slight viewing pleasure...but it isn't much, so probably not even pleasurable. My body guy is fixing the cracked spoiler hole from where the previous body guy screwed up, that's why there is a large hole in my hatch

I actually just got this one. Hatch is primered and bumper is now ready for paint I believe. Should have it finished up by Thursday if all goes well

Looks good man. I to have a 95 gsx with a full build about 10k(+/-)under the hood but its not painted. Just had my crank walk on me I suspected it so I dropped the pan and sure enough it walked. Good thing I caught it early no damage that I can see to the block but some to the crank.

November 30, 2012 - S3 Magazine feature and recent pics

I took out one adjusting collar in the rear..this is the result. I will be leaving it at this ride height for a good while now. It is perfect for my car in my eyes. Still plenty drive-able and not too much of a pain to daily if I want to

And then tonight I went out because it looked like there would be a beautiful sunset, which there was. So I tried to get a few decent pics in. I still need to figure out a way to brighten these up without it pixelating it and making it look like crap, but I feel they look decent nonetheless.
