What kind of times are needed in true street to be competitive? Whats the deal with the catch pan? That's sucky. it seems like it would act like a big wing and lift the front end.
Here are the results from True Street the last two years:

2012 - http://importvsdomestic.com/wcf/results_12/sunday/TRUE_STREET_2012-11-04.html
2011 - http://www.mirdrag.com/v2/results/2011/11-11/11-11-06/TRUE_STREET_2011-11-06.html

As you can see, you need to be in the 10s at a minimum to even qualify for the 32 car field and sub-9.50s to even be remotely competitive. Speaking from experience at the IREV events earlier in the year, this class is full of some very nasty FWD cars. The 97' VW GTI of Tim Mullen is one of the most consistent FWD cars I have ever seen. And forget about it if the big turbo GT-Rs come out and have decent drivers. There's always a glimmer of hope to be competitive if you're consistent and reliable but it's a ridiculously tough class.

10.00, 10.50, or 11.50 index are the recommendation, really, if you want to race heads up but can't compete in the True Street class. It's still 100% heads up racing as long as you don't break your dial. A bit like bracket racing but a set dial for everyone. Plus, it's still $1000 payout to the winner. Granted, those are tough classes as well but a lot more manageable. And, no catch pans are required for index classes.

Catch pans are a 100% necessity. With the shear number of cars that show up, if they had an hour clean up for every car that will break, they'd never finish the event. It's a valid rule. To be honest, the rule actually turns some people off from running their cars because "it's a hassle" or "it's a street car" (classic, ridiculous DSM phrase). This is a big boy event with big boy rules. Run index if it's a hassle. Or even adapt a universal diaper from Summit to work if building a catch pan is a pain. Too many people b**** about downtime because of oil downs... this rule helps with that tremendously.

Yeah as soon as I looked at the rules I realized it's a pretty fast class. Yeah I can see the catch pans being a good idea, but it seems like it would be hard to implement on a dsm.

I went to Jersey for the fall nationals, and they wouldn't let me race in 10.5 index without a catch pan! probably the same here too! So im out, dont feel like putting a catch pan on the car right now, will be installing one in the off season.

Unlike OGS event rules that clearly state a catch pan is required for all classes except 11.50 index, Bracket 2 and Bracket 3, MIR's rules for IREV and WCF only require a catch pan for heads up classes. It's just annoying that OGS insists on using Facebook only as their main source for information. Most people look to the forums.
