First, I have some 255/40/17 RE01R's lying around, and I thought It would be great to be able to use them on the front of my 1g FWD.

It seems like 17x9 wheel would be best. and according to this thread I found:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/road-course-autocross/266451-track-wheels-17x9-45-gtfo.html

35-40 offset would fit, but the best for handling is 27 offset.

Well, I am more interested in the handling performance than looks, so I would like to go the 27 offset route. But I bet they stick out pretty far from the front fenders.

So Is rolling the fenders out of the question with a 27mm offset? Do I have to go with flares?

Does anyone have a picture of this combo?

Thanks.

Oh and some options for 17x9 27mm offset wheels:
1. MB Wheels Weapon - Wheel Details - Discount Tire

2. MB Wheels Competition - Wheel Details - Discount Tire

3. 5Zigen ZR+ - Wheel Details - Discount Tire

the 5Zigen is supposedly 26lbs (heavy?). found that Info on 1010tires.com
I doubt the MB Wheels are any better

Those are some heavy ass-wheels. Check out rpf1s and fno1rcs, same price range but MUCH lighter.

well the thing is, 17x9 and 27mm offset is hard to find. I've owned FN01RC's before and they are light and nice, but I believe they don't come in 27 offset.

To bring this back...

If you want 17x9 in a +27 and the wheel you are looking at is say +35, you can always get an 8mm spacer and that would even out the offset. Both the RPF1 and FN01R-c 17x9 come in +35. This is exactly what I am doing and I am still up in the air over which wheels I want more. The RPF1's are lighter, but I am not 100% that my brakes will have sufficient room to breathe behind them. The FN01R-c's have a very open face but they weigh 4lbs. more than the RPF1's. Decisions, decisions...

*cough cough* Ive got a set of 17x9 fno1rc in +35 for sale right now....Recently powdercoated. *cough cough*

The RPF1s are lighter, but the fno1rcs are easier to clean....The rpf1s are damn sexy, but so are the fno1rcs, the RPF1s are easy to find replacements, so are the 5zigens.

LOL so yeah go with what you like, cost is always an issue too, but dont cheap out getting a set of wheels.
