Always keep in mind that two cars with the same parts (and even the same driver) can still run very different times. Cars are the products of production lines, varying tolerances, and assembly mistakes.

If a car got lucky during assembly and got nothing but parts that were first off production, with no core shift in the castings, sharp tooling so the machining was dead on, and precise assembly it's gonna run a lot better than the one that got the casting in the last half of the molds life, machined with old bits and cutters that are on the high side of tolerances, and the weary guy slapping parts on 3rd shift half asleep.

Some get lucky but most are not optimal. Remember, he said it was a JDM engine. Maybe more attention was paid to those durng assembly. In any case it's still an awesome feat.

But don't think that just because someone with the same stuff as you can run 12s you can too. And on the flip side... if you run 12s almost stock that doesn't mean every car can. Good driving or not.

Rick - '91 GSX :dsm: <-- not running 12s (damn those 3rd shift union guys!!)

Your not serious are you? LOL.

Stock Internal K series can make 600+ corrected WHP turbo'd, keep in mind these engines were never designed from factory to be turbo, this is pretty badass IMO. Considering the fact that making that kind of power on cast stuff is pretty amazing.

A local went 10.73 @ 137mph on a completely STOCK H22 turbo with a 9psi WG spring and NO BOOST CONTROLLER, this was in a full street car (88 crx). Never made more then 380whp corrected on the dyno, this is also on 93 octane, again factory cast everything.

Plenty of NA guys are doing low low 12's on 1.8 and 2.0L b series using ALL factory honda parts.

Not to knock DSM's, but never under estimate hondas.

BTW i love my DSM :D

The 88 crx HF only weighs 1819lbs. The 88 Si weighs 2017lbs. The horsepower to weight ratio is better. Also, Civics almost always have to be swapped to pull those numbers.

Is Atco a downhill track??? :p

That's really hard for me believe, very impressive for a stock fuel system and turbo in a full weight car.

Not trying to discredit you or anything, I'm just dumbfounded.

I went 12.26 @ 112, 14b stock injectors, non turbo fpr. I also had a front mount and cams and some weight reduction. So throw some cams and a fmic and drop some weight and youll be in the 11s easy! I was at atco yesterday but left early so i didnt see this car, i did see the silver 2g and a green 1gb there.

i was going 12.7s then all i did was throw in some web cams and a 100 ebay fmic and dropped it down to 12.2, i wasent tuned at all either and on a busted ass 180k stock motor. Im sure with a tune and a rebuild i be around 11.7s. But i blew the motor and turbo, so im done with the 14b.

While a 12.6@105 is a great 14b run, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here.

11's are not EASY to hit on the 14B. Even your 12.26 is far off hitting 11's with this turbo, trust me.

I was out there last night, I saw the run...it's real...he was just drivin the car hard...no 2 buts about it...nice runs

My silver 2g FWD on the other hand decided to spin a bearing...locked up the motor...had to tow it home...one of you guys PM me...if I can get a new motor in I'll be back there again friday...my first two runs were fcukin terrible, although that's the first time I ever had the car on the track...

Good runs, hopefully I'll see you again friday if I can get this six bolt paid for and installed and running alright by friday...gonna see if I can crank the boost up to 22 as well...

My brother said he was talkin to you that night. Also like my brother said the car was at stock weight with just spare tire removed. Also the clutch was slippin he took me for ride in the car last night and put it in 3rd gear and it slipped from 3k to 7k no bullshit. And for anyone who does not beleive it kpeclipse was there who i and my brother never met.

I'm still shocked whenever I see these threads where people are running 12's with bolt ons. What exactly is the secret here? I'll be lucky to run a low 13 with my 6bolt and 16g...

I think its the stock fuel setup. When you upgrade fuel parts they have to work together perfectly. If the car is not tuned correctly it wont run at its best performance. The fuel is always consitant with the stock setup.

I think fuel used makes a big diference. He is stating 93 octane which is DAMN impressive. My best trap on a 14b was 103mph on 93 with more mods and a horrible tune, with upgraded fuel components also.

Maybe he's just running dangerously lean making all the power that way:)

ihatedsms- how wide are those slips? Car looks NICE!

Plain and simple, regardless of what's on the car, he came out of there like a flaming bat out of hell, and drove the shit out of the car all the way thru...

You're probably right about the fuel, but when you turn the boost up on the 14b how is the stock ECU adding that much fuel to have ## idc up MAD HIGH, and allowing you to do that? Unless it's crazy dangerous lean, just something to think about. I'm not discounting you, obviously I SAW it, just things that make you go hm

I know i could have done it, My car had to be granny shifted in to 2nd on all my 12.2, 12.3 passes because of my 2nd gear syncro taking a crap. My 1/8 wasent that great 7.8s @ 85 yet still ran consistant 12.2s @ 112mph.

Then i upgraded to a built trans welded center diff, 4 drag radials, and 550 injectors, AFC and i ended up going the same time with slower mph... 12.2s @ 110, 111. This was due to me throwing in the injectors and afc and not tuning it before those runs. And before i could make more passes i blew my headgasket. And now going with a bigger turbo. (Ran these 14b times over 2 years ago)

But i know i could have done it easily.
Just taking out 200-300lbs would do it. So dont tell me that my 12.26 @ 112.89 is far off hitting 11s.

Nate from dsmotorsport went 12.1 @110 no spray, and then went 11.44 @ 118 on spray and he is the fastest AWD 14b, So technically we went Quicker then him with out spray. If only me or you sprayed we would be right there with him.

So how do you figure a 113mph 14b run is far off from running 11.999?
You ran 113 and were at 12.0 right there man. thats only 1/tenth from 11.999 100lbs lost would have done it.
So i guess that means that you were far off from hitting 11s too? No not at all you were right there and so was I.

And if this kid is going 12.6 with the very very little mods he has and only 18 lbs of boost, i think that he can easily hit high 11s with 22psi, race gas, some weight reduction, cams, fmic, and tuning.

Thanks man. I have probably over 30 low 12 second passes on the 14b all granny shifting 2nd because of my syncro problem. :D

My brother took are car to Atco on 3/14/08 which was yesterday an ran [email protected] with k&n intake, N/T intake mani, Magnus gasket, 3" O2 back exhaust, custom O2 dump, avc-r apexi B.C., and ngk r6's.

R/T .425
60' 1.742
1/8 7.988
MPH 85.54
1000' 10.503
1/4 12.639
MPH 105.39

The car was stock weight with just the spare tire removed. 93 octane gas, Also my brother weight is about 220 lbs. We ran about 18 psi on the stock 14b.

Just thouht i would share this with everyone and see what they think.

Also forgot to add the clutch was slippin in first and second gear.:notgood:

Hey man im 10 min from atco raceway, let me know next time your goin down to the track id like to check out your car!

good job on the 12.6!

If the car is not turbo from factory, and you add one, it is NOT stock anymore. No ifs and buts. I do not see them making that power/times with STOCK injectors on a STOCK motor that came WITH that car.

Swaps are pretty lame. Unless it's something massively insane like.. the 4g63 in a crx, rx7, or pontiac fiero....

Also, stock K internals will not handle boost pressure well, like all other honda pistons, ringlands will crack; just a matter of time.

Next time we go down i'll let you know for sure. The clutch is pretty much shot now my brother and I hope to be puttin a new one in this week. Hope to see ya down there soon.

WOW!!! Not really sure why this subject is on this thread?? Ok guys thank for the input.

I don't think that 12.26 is far from a 11's. Like Ihatedsms said 100lbs is .10 of a sec. In my car alone i could easly remove 300lbs and a new clutch run low 12's and possibly brake the 11's. Plus the 14b still has a lot more psi to give.

The 14b won't be happy over 18 psi without some c16 in there or a very large FMIC

Wow so much bench racing. Put up the numbers or shut up. When you hit 11's then you can come in here and brag. Until then, you are still a twelve second car. No two ways about it. Good luck on the 11's, but I also feel that eleven second pass will be tougher than you guys think. And consistently. Not just the miracle pass.

I consistantly ran 12.2s on the 14b, no bench racing here, 113mph is an 11 second pass so , were talkin 2 tenths of a sec and for phil1320 less then one tenth. I can see if we were a second away but were not. I have over 300 passes in the 3 diffrent dsms ive owned, im at the track every week when my car is running. I took my stock car from 15.0 to a 12.2 @ 112, all from seeing what works and what dosent work with the 14b.

Your the one bench racing, wheres your 14b times? You have no room to talk on this thread. 113mph on a stock turbo is quite an achivment. the numbers are right there. There 14b guys running 11.8 @ 113, pretty much the same mph that i ran, and that phil1320 did run. So it could have easily been done.

This is really tempting me to strap a 14b on my 2500lbs awd race car that i have been building and spray it, and shut everyone up.

Sorry to talon4lifetsi i dont mean to hijack your thread. We just have to represent the 14b and prove all those non belivers out there wrong!

Here is a video of me spinning completly threw 1st gear and granny shifting second yet still running a 12.2 @ 112

True about the fmic. With a side mount your gonna have to let the intercooler cool down between each run because its gonna get hottt, and hurt you times.

The race gas thing not so true, I ran 22psi pump gas on the street for over a year with no problems what so ever.

Next time we go down i'll let you know for sure. The clutch is pretty much shot now my brother and I hope to be puttin a new one in this week. Hope to see ya down there soon.

Yea man def let me know, im down there alot when there open anyway, i was there the other day when you ran but i left at around 7 so i didnt get to see you run.

Good luck!
