Wife’s b-day 3 days before the shootout is pretty bad, but try beating your 8th wedding anniversary (for which you have already made reservations at an ultra expensive B&B) on the same actual weekend as the shootout :). Needless to say, I wasn’t very happy to hear this year’s shootout schedule.

On top of it, I decided to ditch VPC/TMO combo a week ago and I am now trying to learn AEM… BTW, I can’t wait to try to give 14b a try while using AEM!!! :)

Wow, it is just so awesome to hear how human we all are. Most of the time I feel Like I am giving people excuses when I dont make an event or have a less than spectacular performance with the car. It is difficult enough to get everything on the car just right to be pushing the limits of a particular setup and then add kids birthdays, first days of school, packing stuff up to move, outprocessing my base to get ready to go back overseas and the list goes on. So it makes me feel good that I'm not the only one with so much on my plate. But due to everything going on I wont make the shootout. And with family in Wapakoneta I was really hoping to get up there this year. But I know Nate will do us 14b'rs right!

so the big question is: will you be at the shootout or at the B&B for your aniversary? OMG

good luck with the aem. Im going to put one in the evo in a few weeks and start there. If it goes well, Ill probobly do the same for the talon. (ditching vpc./afc also).
I hear the newest versions of the software are 400x better with no bugs and everything works correctly. I also figured the evo would be the easiest to learn it on since it's so stock and is a known perfectly running car. no old wiring, no old sensors..ect like on my talon.

Yup...life is hectic for sure. I have to get the business setup to go to the shootout also, that is a huge job..pack the whole inventory, price enverything, load trailer, finish racecar. We also have the standard 4000 people calling a day before we leave that need parts overnight shipped so they can make it to the shootout too. They all need callbacks, parts ordered, shipping done ect. Im not complaining here guys...this is my choice to run a dsm shop. unfortunatly it doesn't leave much time for my wife, let alone racecars and such on lastminute timeframe.

I would have done the water/alch injection if I had another day to test it out. I really wish I had decided to do SA class before 2 weeks ago, or I could have done the air/water sidemount..that would have solved alot of stuff.

that would be the million dollar question. If he is at the shootout, the better question would be, will Leon be running the green machine with the 14b or is it going to have its 10sec turbo on. If it is the later, nate-you should be the quickest 14b.

Come on guys, I haven’t missed a shootout in 8 years and I am not about to miss a 9th one. Plus, it helps to have a VERY understanding and supporting wife :). I was able to reschedule our B&B weekend for the next weekend.

I am definitely not planning on running a 14b at the shootout. I already doubt that I will be competitive this year, because of AEM (well, not AEM itself, but rather my lack of knowing it), so I wouldn’t want to handicap myself any more by running a 14b.

Supportive partners/spouses are godsends. Nate-bring it home and get that thing deeper into the 11's!

Leon, Happy Anniversary and best of luck at the shootout.

Our 9th year anniversary was a few days ago. Last year She spent her birthday at Beverun Motorsports complex watching me lap a Formula 2000 for 3 days straight. She still brings that up and will for years to come. :D

The addiction is bad.

I am glad we are all making out. See you there. Look for the shiney black Galant VR4 (number3.)

Unfortunatly we had a big problem with the 14b talon. It ran on fridya night for 2 runs...both 12.4 @ 107 with 1.60 and 1.66 short times. power was way down from last week....we did turn the boost down to 19 in attempt to lower the knock count. Was bogging the launch on both leaving at 6000. 7000rpm would have put it back to normal, as the track was stupid sticky on sunday from what everyone was saying.

anyway...we were driving it to Buschur's carshow on saturday morning and had a Tbelt issue. Busted up the head with bent valves...i haven't taken it apart though. the main bolt that holds the tbelt pulley onto the crank backed off a little and allowed the key to break....spun Tbelt pulley.

the other sad thing was: sunday...stock appearing had 3 cars. the fastest was a 12.7 i think, so we would have had the field covered by atleast a half second for a pretty easy win.

hopefully have the car back together in a week or so...this time with a good fmic and less 250lb. Im going to make an aluminum/lexan hatch and gut the doors, remove the ground effects. Also taking off exhaust. Id hope it should run in the 11.5's then.

Shootout was a complete disaster otherwise too. Sales on sunday weren't even $6000 gross, last year we did 11,900. Basicly it wasn't even worth the gas to drive out to OH.

Man that, sucks! I have been waiting for anyone to post any kind of numbers. But veryone one I know or that has posted already, broke while there, or broke on the way there. Man hopefully this is not the beginning of the end. That sucks for the sales too. I remember last year all the sales were strong for everyone and alot of the strong cars from across the nation were in attendance. Hopefully next year is better.

12.7 for stock appearing! Damn, I've run quicker than that in street trim with my two kids in the back!

NO BS! My friend was on picking up the trailer and i told him to call off the trip on Friday night, mainly because of rain, but i also had to get my truck back from it being towed illegaly parked :thumbdown So that costed me money and on top of that i had to use some of the Ohio trip money to pay for the "stock appearing" big 16g i put on my car the week prior after i toasted the trusty 14b. With the new stock appearing turbo my car ran 12.0 and a worst of 12.4 bogging horribly. I knew i would have done well but congrats to who ever took 1st. I feel like i abanndoned the 14b, but the 16g was the only way to get the talon back up and running that soon.
PS: This turbo actualy makes power past 5500rpm unlike my tired 153,000 mile 14b.
Jose,
Congrats on the 11 sec pass, unbeliveable :thumb:
My goal is to run a 11 sec run with the B16G with Full interior "appearing"

Travis, my bad if in one of the post I made it sound like I am in the 11's, I'm not. When I said, glad to see another AWD car in the 11's I meant in addition to Leon's Green machine. Leon R, and Nate of DSMotorsports are the only AWD's to break into the 11's off the bottle, Nate I belive has the Nitrous record, though I think he was really the only one pushing that envelope. My personal best is the the 12.17 @ 111.94. Though I'm traping near 113 now I have not been able to get a better ET, bald tires, slipping clutch, plus the motor is just plum worn out after a whole season of racing, time for a fresh rebuilt, cause compression is down to boot.

Jose

I really hope DB doesn't decide to do something drastic and cut the stock appearing class next year becuase of low turnout like he did the 3kgt and fwd cars.

Im definalty on this 14b turbo for the rest of this year. nitrous is going back on too, but I will continue to push it without the ntirous.

Seriously coun't belive the amount of broken cars and people just having problems at this years shootout. i think 3 cars out of the quick 16 drove into thier trailers. Elliots car catching fire, TTR poping the EVO, BR's starion having tranny probs...endless list. :thumbdown to luck this year

Well Sux it was a bad turn out, but i'm gunna see if i can take my car to the track friday and get my first 11sec timeslip. My traps are still around 111 though. This is all done through my pressbent 2.5" exhaust though

ok im confused... so what is the fastest AWD NO-NITROS records??
Is there like a top 10 list somewhere, i checked dsmtimes but they catorigize all 14bs, fwd, nitros, on there list, im curiouse to see where my car would be on it, i just ran a 12.44 @ 111 with a bad 60ft im happy as hellll

12.4 is certainly a good time for a 14b, nothing thats gonna top any lists nowadays, quickest 14b is in the 10s now...

ihatedsms said:
i kno that but there FWD and or have nitris, like i just said in the other comment, im talkin about AWD and no N20...

Actually he didn't use N20...

He beat my AWD record of 11.6 @116mph (my car was around 2800lbs w/driver). But then, I also didn't have a stock sidemount.

i didnt mean anyone in particular, i just meant the ones that arent fwd or N20, i kno
theres some sick 14b cars that go 11s that are awd and no n20, including yours, and some other guys, i was just trying to figure out if anyone has a list of the top awd-no n20 cars out there, because most lists i find are ALL 14b cars including fwd and n20

I've gone 12.19 and 111.3 mph on the 14b, AWD, no spray, SMIC. I'm not on the DSMtimes list yet because I won't submit a time until I've run faster than my previous best on my old setup (Green, 11.94 @ 117).

Leon, looks like you might have a new wave of competition for the 14B AWD record ;)
