Nice list, if you dont bi*** out on the boost/tuning you've got a solid 10 second car if you can drive well.

But WTF are you doing talking about it in here!? Get off your a$$ and bust some 10s!!! Theres still two months of good racing left!

I dont see the bottom end of my car being EVEN close to handling that type of horsepwer, That and my stock intake manifold... well see what i can pull out of it come spring though :)

the stock intake manifold is not the wisest choice for straightline racing. I'm getting ready to remove that restriction.

You can definitely hit 11s on a stock 6 bolt short block. On a stock 7 bolt shortblock... I wouldn't recommend it, due to longevity issues. Slip that clutch, and be peacefull with your gears; they will thank you by holding together :)

Good luck.

Thanks alot man for the advice... I'm working on getting an Intake manifold right now... I could REALLY use one... I think im actually going to start building my bottom end first though, the stock manifold should be alright if i shift at 7700 rpms... HOPEFULLY it will hold on...

And the transmission is another worry of mine, but i believe if i treat my tranny well it will thank me down the road...
thanks
Andrew

Well I have about 85% of the parts listed but my car is 4G63T FWD Elantra.
Also have a Magnus intake manifold, 4 MSD blaster coils and 9.1 Pistons
(Motor getting built now)

Here are some pictures I posted up of my project.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191954

So once its out I would love to hit a 11sec pass.
Good luck to anyone running just about the same set up.

Man you have everything it takes to get 10's. Your going about what you need to do next. Your ADDING all the right things but what you ned to do is start TAKIN AWAY stuff aka weight reduction. I can't remember if your awd or fwd but i know for a fact a awd 60 trim setup with those mods and weight redutcion is a 10 second car.

The car should be started within the next week... im glad ive had this build thread, its going to be really interesting on how it all turns out i should just keep this thread going throughout the whole life of the car

Deffinately, but here is one thing that I am noticing people dont understand, and thats this... There is so much more TIME that goes into the project than I ever imagined, I have so much fabricating to do... Exhaust, Intake, o2 dump, intercooler piping, etc etc... If i have learned one thing thats the EXTRA time that goes into a car that you would never expect... Its just crazy... I dont think I can put a price on the amount of work that I have done... At the end of the day it makes you really proud of what you have done... Thats all for now though

The way I see it is, if your gonna DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT.

I know mine will take a while but reason for that is I wanna mke sure everything is gonna work out and like I said before "DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT".

Im sure you will be happy with your project once its all done, knowing you done all/most of the work yourself.

Absolutely and thats what I am happy with... is knowing that i have done everything right, the one part of my car I am not satisfied with is the wiring harness, but over the winter the wiring harness will become 100 percent hidden...

That is what I am not understanding about this generation of kids with cars, they see everything as it happens in the movie the fast and the furious, they dont realize that in every quick car there is way more time and money than they ever expected, and i am glad I had people to tell me how to get started on a car, I made a few dumb decisions, but thats why I had to start this build, to fix everything Ive done wrong and do everything 100% right... With me doing the work on the car if i have a problem I dont have to blame it on everything else, I did it and it was MY mistake...

Now for the UPDATE ON THE CAR!

The turbo has been mounted along with the distribution block for the battery relocation in the trunk...

I now have my wiring harness ran, the custom 02 dump has been made and it looks extremely good...

i removed the cruise control and made myself my own bracket so i didnt have to buy a non cruise cable... I will sell the brackets to anyone for like 15 bucks if they are interested...

I now have to finish with my passenger side suspension, run the rest of the fuel line going to the tank which wont be bad, and finish my megasquirt...

the one thing i have left to buy is my intake mani... I have been looking at Jmfabrications.com has a intake manifold that is pretty damn good so i hear... Either that or i have been looking at a magnus 2g intake manifold...

If you have a preferrance let me know
Thanks
Andrew

Another update...

Got the car back together to only find myself with a problem ( who would have figured :tease: ) gotta love race cars...

So i come across the problem of every time I put fuses in the distribution block it will pop em.. so i guess i have a short somewhere....

besides that the car should be ready to roll tonight or tomorrow...

Wootxor to getting the car rolling :rocks:

new license is gonna say vtecths

So guys heres ANOTHER update for you...

FINALLY got the car back together and turned the key with the stock ecu to find that I have a car that is runninge extremely well...

i havent been this happy in quite a while... been cruising around with the car just enjoying it, and tonight it goes in to get the MS put on and etc etc...

Also need to put the cams in...

thats all for now
thanks
Andrew

1gawd, I dont talk much just rather sit back and get a feel for whats going on. Plus its nice to have that market for parts so close to home and right at your fingertips. Would love to see your car some time, looks pretty damn sweet! :thumb:

Alright well as most of you know :) the car is running again and i got some pics of my 15 inch POS rims....

The DR's will be put back on it next weekend... but here you guys go.

holy big front mount batman

And on top of that I have another update...

So lately I have been driving the car around and ran into a huge problem... While driving somehow the Vacum line came off the AFPR druing one of my pulls ( 3 to 6 lbs) and I couldnt figure out what the hell was going on... I got EXTREMELY lucky this time around and was nervous I hurt the bottom end...

After running a compression test on the car i was fortunate to come out with 175 174 174 175 as my compression... this was done without my cams in...

At Idle my vacum is now 19-20 I believe which sounds like there are no vacum leaks...

Now as of yesterday night ( and ####ing around with the stock ecu) I have a pretty decent tune on the car for 14psi... ####er hauls like a bat out of hell....

There you go... Megasquirt's goin in this week and should be tuned within the next week... WOOT!

Very nice. I saw your car up at Scribner last friday.

I really like the idea of seeing how far you can take the stock motor. That's awesome and I really hope you make some good numbers with it! As long as the tune is good I think a 7 bolt will handle more power than most people would expect.
