Ignore my screen name cuz i also own a 1991 eclipse gsx.

I'm coming over from my wrx to the dsm world. I currently still own both. Bothe good cars. Anyway.

I just got the car. I did a a tuneup on it and it runs good. so far ;)

I just want the easiest and cheapest way to get a 11.9 or better. I was hoping for some other people who have reached this goal to post a list of their mods so I have something to work off of. This is by no means a show car so I want cheap parts that are proven to work thats all.

Thanks in advance
~Danny

Cheap parts.........That work.......

HMMMMMM.

Alright, Well I cant give you a recipe but This site does offer an upgrade path.

Thats damn near the recipe, Its the directions. You pick the brands.

Check it out on the main page.

Take care Ninja.

This should work...

Custom 3" turbo-back(DIY)
PTE SCM60
HKS 272s
720cc injectors
Walbro 255lph pump
SAFC and Pocketlogger
2g MAS or MAF translator w/ GM MAS

Don't forget the basic stuff like IC pipes, clutch etc. You'll probably want ARP head studs and a Mitsu metal headgasket too.

I have read the tuning guide about 30 times. I wanted to get a feel for hands on parts of what people already had. There are some exhausts better then others. There are better and worse turbos for the money. Thats what i meant by proven not just a list of parts from the tuning guide. I wanted a exact list or brands and everything. Whats so wrong in that?

Thanks Spidey thats more or less what i was looking for.

USED 20g and all supporting mods which will end up costin you like ~$5k-$6k including dyno time and parts with you doing the labor.
Oh yea, race gas too.

recipes are gh3y. just research and get the best parts and get what you want.

Yea just follow that tuning guide. Do all your own work, and you dont have to buy the best of everything.

Well I have done tons and tons of reading in last month or two so heres my take on this stuff

1.Decent sized turbo..50 trim type or a bit bigger.Even the evo 16 seems to have hard time hitting 11s.
2.Cams like 264/272 hks or 272/272
3.3 inch catback..good sized downpipe,no cat or high flow
4.Big fmic
5.Bigger injectors of course min 650 ,better fuel pump ,afpr.

And as for this race fuel stuff..if you can get ahold of xylene or toluene at paint stores it will do the same thing.

A good alcohol water injection system can't hurt either.

As for exact brands or parts..well for catback I like my apex n1 stuff.
the n1 downpipe has no cat provision though.
For fuel pump most buy the cheap and effective walbros.I went with pricey but super quiet and effective supra twin turbo pump.
Injectors I went with FIC type..they are plug and play. And get rid of crappy hard factory seals in head.
FMIC there are lots of good ones I don't have one yet.
Turbo well lots of brands..garret or hybrids. Lots go with PTE .I went with AGP.
Cams pretty much everyone serious runs hks.

6.And of course you do need some tuning tools..some type or logger.
A maft for the injectors like I have or safc or something more hardcore.
Some type of boost controller.

Thats pretty much it And then if you want deep in the low 11s or maybe 10s a 75 to 100 shot of spray can be a good thing too.

7.And of course in the 11s you will likely need better clutch..most run the 2600 act.

So is that a specific enough recipe.??

You have a 1g, right? This can be done *cheap* on pump gas since I'm in the process of doing it now.

Here is the tab of everything I've kept up with:

Free mods - $0
Killed all emmissions - $0
Weight (250 pounds so far) - $0
JVC CD Plater - $130
Kuhmo Supro 712's ZR rated - $360
Joe P MBC - $45
Custom 3" Exhaust from Turbo back - $340
2100 ACT clutch - $320
Razo Shift Knob - $20
Greddy BOV - $150
Walbro Fuel Pump 255lph - $84
EGR Block Off PLate - $8
Rota Slipstream 16x7" Wheels - $450
New EPROM ECU - $250
Shifter Kit - $35
Custom Front Mount Intercooler with 2.5” piping - $650
Carbon Fiber Bezel overlay Ebay - $27
3" MAF - $50
Ramchargers Fuel Control - $199
Seikan Deika Fuel Injectors 720cc - $300
Carbon Fiber Interior - $90
AGP Full Garret kit (38mm Tial ExtWasteG, T3/T4 .63 A/R 50-trim turbo, Tubular manifold with cast 5th runner, SS o2 housing, SS downpipe) - $1785
FAL Slimline Fan - $150

Just take out the showey/tires stuff and that's the cost to run 11's. The weight reduction does wonders on the AWD.

Oh, and figure another $400 in miscelaneous things (fittings, screws, tuning, etc) The biggy's that are killing me is the stock mainfold and STOCK CAMS (the worse) Add another $500 into that for 272/272 HKS if you want power past 6900 RPMs. :-(

PS: here is the car

I have other mods too but those ones will be enough to get you there. I don't have a 1/4 mile track near me but I'm *hoping* to get into the 7's in the 1/8th this saturday. Only time will tell....

Thats what I'm talkign about... Thank you very much guys....this is exactly what i was lookign for. SO the PTE turbo is the way to go? I see them for like $750 which is pretty darn cheap....I'' need a new manifold for that though right?

this will get you there very easy and its the setup im about to put in my car once my cams, fmic, and intake manifold comes in.

agp 50 trim garret turbo
agp fmic
full 3'' exhaust
hks 272's cams
magnus intake manifold
tial bov
dejon intake pipe
safc II
gauges to see whats going on
act 2600 clutch
then the little things such as controls

I have a real clean '93 TSI AWD "modded ofcorse" that should run roughly a 12.3 in the 1/4mile. I ran a 12.7 last time but have added some go fast goodies since. The paint isn't faded, body is in good shape "yes this is a first gen" and the car has never broke down. I have done almost Every preventive maintanence repair and all of the mods were installed by yours truely. Looking to get around $5,000 with extra parts, PM for details, PS: slapping an upgraded turbo would easily put this talon into the high 11's.

I think rather than 11sec recipe, you should decide what kind of MPH (power) you want. Then from there its all a question how of how hard you are willing to abuse the driveline on a launch (and shifting) to get the ET.

I can tell you what my recipe was when I first ran 11s.

FP Green (internal gate), Buschur street FMIC, ACT 2600, Intake, 3" exhaust, GReddy Emanage, some Water/Alky injection, pumpgas and about 23-24psi boost.

This netted 123.6mph, and with an easy launch 1.9 60ft the car went 11.78 ET. I've always been a fan of just making more HP than required and just letting the car ET on the top-end. Ofcourse you could probobly run a 11.80 with only about 118mph or so, but that would require a more abusive launch and driving. I mean with ~123mph+ people have ran low low 11s to high 10s.

Just depends how you want to do it.

if you get dsmlink for fine tunning you could see 11's with stock head and block. could with a afc but link will be safer. with the mod list bellow and dsmlink u will see 11's.

agp 50 trim turbo
agp fmic or any big fmic
full 3' turbo back
3'' intake
good bov
high flow fuel pump
660^ injectors
act 2600 clutch
hks 272's cams
and for more insurance magnus intake manifold

and of course all your gauges and controls

A good 360-370 fwhp in a awd (dynoing in fwd) could net you an 11.9 with good driving at about 120 mph depending on how heavy your car is. If it is full weight, you'll probably need like 375-390 fwhp with a nice powerband, not just peak power numbers; or like 360 awhp to run those mph's.

I'll give you a recipe, however I won't provide it in English, so I hope you are up to par on your German. Nothing in this world is free.

Eine halbe Tasse Staubzucker
Ein Viertel Teelöffel Salz
Eine Messerspitze türkisches Haschisch
Ein halbes Pfund Butter
Ein Teelöffel Vanillenzucker
Ein halbes Pfund Mehl
Einhundertfünfzig Gramm gemahlene Nüsse
Ein wenig extra Staubzucker
... und keine Eier

In eine Schüssel geben
Butter einrühren
Gemahlene Nüsse zugeben und
Den Teig verkneten

Augenballgroße Stücke vom Teig formen
Im Staubzucker wälzen und
Sagt die Zauberwörter
Simsalbimbamba Saladu Saladim

Auf ein gefettetes Backblech legen und
Bei zweihundert Grad für fünfzehn Minuten backen und
KEINE EIER

Hey porkchop WRX I saw you bidding on a car on ebay last week. I guess you won it. I also guess you got your WRX smoked by some DSM Power baby! Is that why you are crossing over?

I don't think that all of that expensive turbo stuff is nessasary, you can hit 11's with wight mods, 16g and supporting mods. Or you could do like they say and take the easy/expensive way out and buy:
60-1
45mm gate
FMIC
720CC
dsmlink+laptop
etc, there are more than one way to go about it. Ask Leon and phil beers.

I have yet to lose to a dsm in my wrx....actually. Its pretty quick actually. I have taken down EVo's from a roll and from a stop. The DSM i won on ebay is mine and my brothers car. Its basically a project car...we're going to try and see how cheap it is to make this car run 11's to shut up some of my domestic friends. I still have my wrx and that too will be in the 11's soon with the fp green.
