Thought you guys might like to check some thing a bit out of the norm. This is my main Tech TJ project. Its a 92 TSI with stock 160k bottom end and stock automatic transmission.

We had it at the track for the 1st time last week on only E98 and a ### 2.5in hot air intake. We were able to pull off a 12.1@115 with crappy 1.9 60ft times.

This week we got the meth injection on and built a nice 3in cold air intake and spent some more time on the launch tune.

His 1st pass out of the night he went 11.4 on the breaks. So he got his warning then for no cage, but was able to keep racing. He was running 11.8s most of the night letting off at the 1/8th trying to get the tuned dialed for the glory pass.

I think the car has a 10.8-10.9 in it with the current mods and maybe a 10.5 with a few more mods on the 16g.

The stock auto with the line pressure mod now has about 30 passes under its belt and no sine of giving up yet.

mods
-Stock 160k bottom end
-HKS 272s EVO valve springs light head work ARP studs metal hg
-MHI EVO III 16 ported to the max for flow and to make creep holds 30+ psi to 8k
-3in hot pipe with no intercooler
-880cc injectors
-E98
-2000cc of meth injection
-3in cold air intake
-MAFT pro 3bar map
-MBC set to 25psi and creeps to 30+ by 5500rpm
-3in DP no exhaust
-DSM chips chip with 8500rpm revlimit

Reasons for no intercooler
-Different
-less weight
-We feel with the Ethanol and Methanol there might not be much of a gain

Car weights in at 2980 with me in it.

Here are some pics of the car, slip and setup

There is a reason people use intercoolers, so unless it's a track only car, I'd say not a good idea.

We have tones of Street time on the car and it does great. I dont think you understand the power of Alcohol. Shep does not run a IC on his car.

We drove the car 50mi round trip to the track and even raced a Honda 600rr on the way home. We were dead even race.

The cooling aspect from the Alki injection alone is obviously enough to keep it from knocking at the boost levels they are running. The et and mpg with an auto 16g car should be plenty proof to show you the motors happy and he knows what he is doing. If not then maybe the 1100+whp ETS Evo or the low 9 sec ETS 1g he tuned will show he knows what an intercooler is for. ;) Props to the English Racing crew/team :thumb:

Well we are just using the stock washer reservoir and fill it up often.

Stock converter and trans only mod done it cranking the line pressure.

What an encouraging post. I love my auto but not many people out there talking about them. Seems to me that the people that are playing with autos keep to themselves and let the kids think what they want. I'm finishing up a complete rebuild today if all goes smooth ;).

I learned long ago to have a goal/time to shoot at and not just start throwing parts. That goal has been mid 12s because I'm not interested in tranny probs. however after speaking with Dean mason and now reading this post i may crank it up a bit.

motor done and in, putting in the shift kit and end clutches this morning, hope to fire it up this evening.

thanks for the great info and keep us up to date

Damn 16g over achievers... Puts a smile on my face LOL

So 30psi to 8k on a cammed motor WTF?

Thats a lot of boost for a 16g at that kind of rpms. Could there be that riduclous of a pressure drop at the intercooler vs running no core at all and just straight pipeing to throttle body.
Or is the porting you mentioned helping that much.

Damn if your turbos flowing like that, then I wonder what this car would do with a SMIM and a better exhaust manifold ( i.e. FP race.)

Now that I think of it, I remember Jayrolla talking about a guy that runs with water cooled intercooler and he was getting ridiculous boost levels also higher than the norm...

E98 must be pretty podent stuff, you could probably almost drink it LOL.
Plus in addition all the meth your running, im sure knock is definitly not the issue.

By any chance do you have any air flow logs?
What kind of timing and AFR was this motor seeing during those passes if you dont mind me asking.

Kudos, Good job taking a route less followed!!

how are you going to say something like that with out running meth? that shit cools my very high intake temps from a heat soaking crappy adfx core. i have found more power with meth than anything else i have added to my car minus dsmlink.

good times man. this was done on a fwd car????

You cant see the Turbo AWD sticker on the side of the car :tease:
Another way you can tell its AWD is with the pic of the exhaust mani,
you can see the part of the subframe in front of the radiator that the front motor mount & cross members bolt to. On a FWD it doesnt have that, it just has one cross member in the middle that goes straight back....

The car is AWD.

Afrs are 10.8-12.0 ( kinda sloppy due to the amount of meth)

I think the turbo porting and no intercooler is why its holding so much boost.

Its a 2g mani ported to the limit its really hard to say if a bigger race manifold would make more hp.

Getting the car to launch out of the hole hard is one of our biggest challenges so keeping the stock intake manifold is probably best for that. A SMIM might kill to much mid range to still launch the car hard.

Awesome.... I was running e-85 and 10 psi with no intercooler.... I was afraid to go much higher than that....

The car pulled 13.90's...LOL...

I also notice your not running coolant through the turbo.... Nor am I!!!

Man my turbo is ported and polished real nice and does not do that. I wish I could hold more than 24psi to redline.

Thats a real good mph for a 16g. Good job. Im praying for an 11.9 one day.
