I'm real curious to hear some of your guys opinions on why some 2gs came without the drain behind the fuel door. I just so happened to get another eclipse (98 gs) without the drain behind the fuel door. My 95 rs and gsx has the drain but then my 95 talon didn't. I'm just confused because they all were the same. I feel like that drain is sort of important so water doesn't just sit behind the door. What do you guys think about it, have any of you noticed these little differences? Was this a how a guy was feeling that day type of thing when manufacturing?

None of my cars have had that hole there. I open the fuel doors to clean that area when I wash the car. My 96 Gst is smooth there with no hole, same with both of my 99 cars. Might have been an early 95 thing

You might be right because so far I've only seen it on the 95s. I'll have to check this 97 I'm storing and see if that has one. I find it pretty functional for grime drainage.

The only other logical variation I can think of is that all of my 2g cars always had a sunroof and never had that drain. So maybe hard top cars had a drain there for some reason, or it was an early 95 thing
