Hi guys, i send my 1g head to the machine shop and they told me that the journals of the cam in the head are out of spec, and that it has been surfaced one too many times. So they advised that i should get a new head. I've been looking for a while now and everything i find is trash (i.e: bad cam journals, out of spec height, oversized bolts, trashed chambers by vent valves, etc)

So, i just talked to i guy i know and he offered me a 2g head. I'm building a NA 4g63 mx (that's how they branded the galant here in my country) and i wanted to know if it was a crazy idea to use a 2g head on a 1g 7 bolt. I've read that some people prefer the 2g head cause it flows better IIRC, but that's on a turbo car. So, if anyone has any input, feel free to share. Thanks

Not at all. Many people have done it.
But at least you would need a 2g/early evo/RVR/Chariot's smaller port intake manifold. Your 1g big port intake manifold can't be used on the 2g head.

Definitely possible. And I agree with Hiroshi on all points other than the 1G intake manifold — it could be used on the 2G head, but it will not be a good combination of parts.

It would allow the car to operate but it would not be near any sense of optimal. Any of those manifolds he mentioned would be better matched.

my other option is to get a Hyundai head, they come with small ports, but here is a friend port matching it to a 1g port
