Your opinion of the 2006 eclipse

Well I work at an aftermarket accersories shop. Part of my job is to pick-up and deliver cars. I have driven GTOs, Bentleys 03 Mustang Cobras Several BMWs etc.

I got in not expecting much and that is what I got. The Rockford Fosgate sub hit hard. but the power was not there in the engine. I was NOT driving the GT yet it was a 5 spd. I was pretty dissapointed. The Interior is VERY bland and the outside is ok I hate the Chrome wing. Anyways If anyone has Questions . I dont know if this has been talked about before just thought I would post up. It happened several weeks ago.

The car looks like ass, I wouldn't drive one, nor associate with someone who owned one. The 3G looks alot better, and that is pretty ugly too. I like the wheels and the stereos though.

The V6 GT has 263 horsepower and a 6-speed, which is all good, except for the fact that at 3,600 lbs. it weighs as much as some trucks.

If the 4g Eclipse was RWD or AWD and weighed like 3,000 lbs. with its 263 hp V6, I'd like it a whole lot more. Looks pretty good, just can't see driving around in a FWD tank.

performance wise, its alright. if it was a little lighter it be right next to evo's from a roll. fwd sucks though, IMO they shouldve made it RWD to compete with the 350z, and made a supercharged version of it too.

The new eclipse is better that the stupid "3g". They are already making performance upgrades, as Magnaflow has an exhaust for it on their website...and im sure a turbo manufacturer will create a turbo kit for it...at least it wont be THAT slow. Ive seen them in person as i live 10 blocks away from a mits. dealer and they do look nice. For the money i would buy an EVO though. HEHE

The new eclispe is actually a race machine, even though i hate it.. It has massive traction control making it almost impossible to sit on the line and spin em...

In all sense this car is a FWD car that comes very close to a AWD

IMO the only really "manly" looking cars are american cars and pickups. All imports are unisex (look wise) speed is something completely different.

so you don't think that skylines or supras look manly?


anyways, the new eclipse is a nice car but not as nice as a 1g/2g ones and as some ppl said the price sticker is going through the roof
they should've realy sticked to 4g63t engines since they became so popular
i donno what the folks at mitsubishi are thinking or maybe they are just trying to make us not buy their cars anymore...

I didn't see if anyone has covered this yet but Mitsu. actually had a good car going for them with the concept of the 06 Eclipse.
The car was actually going to be a Hybrid with a gas/electric engine. The gas had the standard 260 HP like the car has now but the electric engine was supposed to act sort of like a turbo. They called it E-Boost, and the electric engine put out an additional 200 HP, and it kicked just like a turbo. The car, called the Eclipse Concept-E, was also AWD. I'm not sure about what you think but that would be an absolutely nasty car, I don't know why they didn't actually put it into production. I mean sure it would be $$$$, but hey, so was the Supra TT and the Skyline and they're legends. Ya I read about that in a magazine. That would have been cool. but Mitsubishi made is suck instead. Because thats what Mitsubishi does best. they make things suck more and more.

I bet someday they will put a v6 in an evo or something. and when they do that i will shoot myself in the head. I wouldn't put it past them.
