Its also rumor that the 2006 model might use the srt-4 turbocharged engine or the chysler pt cruisher turbocharged engine. [/url]

same engine.

anyway, im stressin the eclipse needs a turbo version, even if its only 10% of sales. mitsu hasnt jumped on the "college kids need a sportscar" bandwagon everyone else has. the evo targets that group, yes, but is too expensive for it.

damn im gonna barf waht the hell are vehicle designers thinking . whoever came up with the 2006 eclipse and the 4th gen idea should be shot on sight with a bazooka.

well my car was $28,000 back in 1997, i dont know how much cheaper then the EVO its gunna get...

"Now that other companies are coming out with performance compacts (Dodge SRT4, Mazdaspeed Protoge) maybe Mitsu will come back with a turbo 4cyl FWD priced right with the SRT and an AWD priced a little higher. Then they can still have the N/T for girls who think they're pretty and the turbo's for us guys who like to have fun."

Even though the EVO is a little pricey, it's made by Mitsubishi, so i think part of your question is already answered huh?:dsm:

i dont think they will bring back the 4g63t cause of the crankwalk issue.

They have had the 4g63t for years without the crankwalk issue and the 4g63t is the powerplant for the EVO, I don't think they have any problems with using that engine.

well here is my .02, having talked to dealer i know, and a mitsubishi insider (not really too inside but he works for them) they said this car will resemble the pontiac grand prix's that are currently out...as my mitsu friend said

"think of the stratus R/t mixed with a grand prix mixed with the current eclipse style, also remeber mitsubishi is less concerned about the sport car and is more concerned with overall cost and appeal."

i doubt theyll put the 4g63 in the 2006 eclipse...theyre gonna want to keep the evo as the crazy power platform

the 2.4 turbo chrysler sounds like it might fit in there though

i have no faith, i say it will be a 6cyl and look like a mix of a 2g and a new accord.

YUP

IMO cars look more and more alike every time they bring out a "new style". Soon everyone will be driving identical cars  . The big 3 are too busy copying eachother too let out something FREASH!

front end minus camo is reminiscent of tarmac spyder, but with a huge steel bumper, narrower fascia, and lack of intercooler will make that thing look a lot like a P.O.N.T.I.A.C.
I hate it... just like i hate the 3g eclipse.... god i hated working on those things at the dealership... what a Piece of SHIT.

I never found the 1g eclipses too attractive. A 2g eclipse with the 6 bolt would be nice. Like a 1 year release. I think the same should happen with the 95 honda civic but with the SI engine. Some car bodys out there need to be re made because these cars now are getting old and racking up miles. Soon they will all be dead and everyone will be DSM- less . :(

I'm sure they won't bring back the 4G63T due to all the problems with CW. Maybe Mitsu is waiting for any reports of CW with the EVO to see how that performs. Also, those humps on the hood, from what I was told, were put there to throw people off. You can notice them on the rear too.

I kinda like the look of the car.... Don't knock it until it hits production. As for engines, its more likely that it will be AWD than turbocharged.... hopefully both though. think of it this way:
The new Endeavor has an AWD platform and is built at the DSM plant off the galant platform like the eclipse. It probably wouldn't be hard to bring it to the eclipse too.... if they wanted to.
The next generation galant has a 2.4 MIVEC SOHC 4-cyl, and a 3.8 SOHC V6. I could see them giving the eclipse the same engine as the galant. I hope they bring us a 4g63 though, its not too unlikely with the way trends have been going (SRT, turbo miata, EVO, WRX... etc)
