Try 316 filler on the 304 parent metal.

I dont use the radioactive stuff but ive got lanth and ceriated in my box.

im not to worried about thc color if thats why u say that. i like using the proper rod for the base metal. i know there arent any big issues with using 316 but technically 308 is the proper rod so thats why i use it.

Youse a gap for full penetration 133 is way too high you can see the burning in the metal :) your heat affected zone is HUGE and that means your weld could
Fail on it's edges. If it were bent or what not.

You want the smallest HAZ possible, I'll post 2 pix of one with 90 amp other with 60 and youll see what i mean, pulse would help emencely also, wish i had it LOL

Gamble, you can also tell it's way too hot because of the gross undercut

looks good sir

gamble thats way to much heat. i use no more then 70 amps on sch 40 with 20cfm gas flow. i just welded the primaries of that turbo mani i did this weekend. as soon as i get the head flange and collactor welded on ill post pics of the finished manifold. now im no sch 40 pro welder yet so the welds arent up the likes of my thin wall stuff..... that and i was trying all kinds of techniques on all the welds on that thing so some def look better then others.

What do you mean, like accessories?

...Anyway, my question is, what all should I get with it for accessories and gases? I plan on welding Aluminum intercooler piping, aluminum exhaust, stainless exhaust, and stainless/mild exhaust manifolds...

Accessories like lenses and tips or anything else that you use with your welder that doesn't normally come with the welder itself.

Here's a good place watch tips etc.. I would checkout Northerntool for accessories, they have sale specials every month.

I would buy a welding blanket, welding jacket (shirt-Apron ) and welding gloves.

My advice after you get what you need for your mig/tig wleder.

Practice Shop safety. This means Don't leave flamable material near you while you weld. or just daily whatever you are working on in your shop/garage or outside.

Reason, why I say this. Mini story time.

I always mentioned this my brother who is Ase certified in Electrical. He would get mad, :argue: say I don't know what I'm talking about and he knows what he's doing. Well, few weeks ago. He was using his friends welding mig/tig not sure because I wasn't there. He was patching a hole to his car, that had a spotlight on driver's side because it was a patrol car. Keep in mind my brother was welding at 2am
and didnt know much about wielding to begin with. :hmm:

His friend had shop rags and parts cleaner on a bench or near where he was welding. From what I was told he wasnt paying any attention of the red cherries sparks while he was welding or prior prepping to weld. He burnt his friends shop up on accident. WTF :ohdamn:

Later, on in few months maybe a year. I'll show my brother the link of videos and perhaps he'll go :aha:

So has anyone been trying the gold tungsten? I absolutely hate it, they replaced our2% thoriated with it and it gets too pourous too fast on the crap I weld at work
