All motor mike, those are soem great looking welds you've got going on there. I have a wuestion though, where do ou get the AMM FAB plates cut out at ? Do you order them some where on line or have the local waterjet guys cut them for you?

I've been looking for my "T.G. Ind." done the same way so that i can place it on work just like you have in the pics (AS MANY PLACES HAVE DONE ALSO) but when pricing them out locally at the waterjet places i know of they become way to damn pricey until i've ordered a full 4 x 8 sheet of SS made into them when is more than i really need at one time (or can afford)

cool thanks, most CAD programs (or CAM haven't studied it in quite some time now) can convert PDF to the proper format, but there's so many apps out there, i'd just preffer to have it the way that's easiest

theres nothing wrong with using no filler on that as long as it got enough penetration with a back purge.

jay, the welds look pretty good.

Building a lamp. No plans at all. Just started with bar stock and was playing with some angles, and made an octagon. Then made a box which turned into the stand. Then another octagon...and adding another right now.

It's all 1" square tube with 1/8" wall. At least I think it's 1/8". It's actually not heavy, maybe 4 pounds.

It's pretty much done. Just need to do more grinding and paint work.

This is how it started off. So you can see how big it is.

Found this lamp idea and thought it would be cool to be made out of metal.
Did this with some 1" 1/8" thick flat stock. Came out ok, but not 100% square as I wanted it to be.
Total investment for this one was $44. Make a lamp kit and 3 pieces of 1" x 72" flat stock. Was fun to make, probably took a good 3 hours or so.

Though I would throw these in there as it was a challenge to get it right without melting the AL. Problem solved with welding fixtures, cleaning the snot out of everything and sharp tungsten.:thumb: That's 1/16th 6061 for my bumper brackets that I make.

Great news guys. Have a thermal arc 186 on the way. Stay tunes, do a revew when it shows up. Maybe a week or 2.

just did this 3" down pipe for a gt40r powered 2nd gen. also took his hks hyper mid section and cut out all the 2.25" piping till where it opens up to 3" right before the back half joint. from that point forward i did 3" stainless all the way to the down pipe.
