1G Wtf starts and runs for about 10 seconds

i just bought a 1g awd talon and i bought it for dirt cheap because it starts and runs for about 10 seconds then dies, i need help guys anyone know what to do lemme know ### this is my winter beater/backup dsm, so any help is greatly appreciated guys thanks

I suggest you check all the basic things. Fluids, spark plug gaps, wire, belts, and then if you can check timing. Does the car keep running if you give it gas?

Perhaps you could post a video or something. It'll be hard to diagnose without better explanation of the problem.

Sounds like it may be a fuel starvation problem. I'd start with checking for a faulty fp, fpr, or clogged fuel filter and go from there. Does the fuel rail still have fuel and pressure after it dies? Does it run fine for 10 seconds at normal rpm or is it sputtering? Does it die abruptly or just slowly peter out? Is it a real 10 seconds or is that a figure of speech and it's more like 3 seconds? Also check if clogged air filter.

could be a bad maf , torn maf boot or just unplugged. just a thought

Im with Luv2 it sounds like a fuel problem. My friend had a similiar problem. The car ran fine for a real 10 seconds and then died. Can you get the car to operating temp by giving it gas to keep it going?

Hard to say without more info, but I would definitely check fuel flow electrical shouldn't fail in 10 seconds it would probably just not start, suggest change fuel filter it's cheap and easy fix. Also fuel pump could be failing on it's way out. Good luck.

I agree on the fuel theory i had a buddy who also builds these say he had a 1g same problem replaced the filters and blew out the lines and threw in a new pump and it rocked so i'm gonna try it, i havent messed with it as i've been focusing on my 2g, sorry it took so long to reply forgot i posted a thread, thanks everybody
