Would it be better to just take our the intake?

Sup guys, I was woundering if you take out the intake for the 1g tsi, would'nt it be better because mybe that way the turbo could get air faster? I know this sounds stupid but just cariouse.

i think maybe you need to rephrase this post. i dont exactly understand what you are trying to ask. you dont need to take the intake off of anything. if you did it is a very good possibility it will suck some trash in there and tear something up inside the turbo. if you mean take the stock airbox out of the car. definitely do that, and put some type of a high flow filter in its place.

yeah, take off the intake completely, then let us know how long before shit gets sucked into your turbo...

ouch bite his head off... if you are asking to just take the intake off completly yes the turbo would get more air but it also only takes about a tablespoon of dust and you can say goodbye to your engine thats why the filter is there

Even then, not a very good idea. The air the turbo will be sucking in will be twice as hot as if there were a pipe with the filter in the stock location.

ahhhh you guys are hilarious.... reading everyone's comments makes my shitty day of college better. Yeah....like everyone said man (without the nasty spelling comments and retarded remarks) you car would crap out... for many reason

- I would give it maybe 10 min. top if your tried that before your car craped out. The whole point of the filter IS to clean the air

-The air filter would be chillen right under the manifold, thats a whooole crap load of hot air.....not good at all

-You have a MAF and that would elimtinate it, you would then have to get a GM MAF and a MAFT

i actually took out my stock filter and filter box and put a fishnet over the honeycombs for a week.. improved the sound of the intake but it was unsafe and i know it was.. i had no problems but i didnt drive on dirt roads or in the rain or snow..i drove my car 3 miles to work then home... 5 times.. after that i realized i should get a filter so i took my moms pos and drove to slowboy. a 45 minute drive later i had a vibrant filter for $30. i still have that same suck noise and it looks good under the hood too . 3 inch dejon tool intake with recirc tube and vibrant filter

So just curious if you had the setup like maft/vpc, etc etc what if you had a small filter on the end of the turbo that and had some cold air hitting the filter so it wasn't sucking hot air. Just wondering how that would benefit or would it be the same as having a pipe and filter. Just curios

i have 2 buddys that take there filter off the turbo but only when they go to the track.. They also have huge fmic's and that n20 spray which i dont know much about other then it cools the air even more with the intercooler.. so ya the turbo pulls in hot air but when it hits the intercooler it gets cool... also they are running blowthrough.. maft/maf

The intercooler can only cool the air so much. The hotter the air is to begin with the harder it is to cool and the less the fmic will be able to cool it.

Its just not a good idea is all we are trying to say. You most likely wont see any performance gain.
