Would it be better or worse for smog to have exhaust/intake leaks???

My car runs and idles just fine w/ no check engine light. Only mods are Ebay intake. Stock exhaust. Just wondering if my theory of: more exhaust exiting through exhaust leaks would be better for the sniffer in the pipe during smog? Wouldnt that let a bit of the bad carbons etc out before the sniffer equaling lower numbers?

Depends on where the leak is. I'm sure they do visuals and any visible leaks are a fail. If it's pre cat it may help with the sniffer but all-in-all, it should be fixed. Intake leaks on the otherhand, you'll WANT fixed.

a small leak may help but if its too large they will be able to tell from the sniffer test... that goes for vacum or exhaust leaks
