Will a Recirculated BOV still make sound?

hi guys


im currently running an aftermarket BOV wich does NOT recirculate the air , and it makes that ( imo ) awesome sound when i change gears


Now i've just started upgrading my engine alot and i know that i should definetly recirculate the air

Im wondering, will a BOV wich recirculates the air still make that sound when i change gears? It doesnt need to be as loud as the one i have on now , as i assume some of the sound dissapears but can you still hear it?

If you have a metal intake tube it will still be very noticeable.

cool thnx, no i have the stock intake tube , have checked a little on ebay for a new one but havent found a decent one yet ( also want it in red colour to match the colour-setup for my engine room )

Honestly, even when I was on the stock 2g BOV, rubber intake pipe, and the stock airbox the bov was still very noticable. All I did was use the drop in K&N panel filter.

on the hubby's car, stock everything (minus the air filter) you could still hear it. but obviously as the turbo and such started going down hill, couldn't hear the BOV over the whining of the turbo bearing

i have a recirculated bov and its loud as balls, its also the stock 2g one. i also have a aftermarket metal intake pipe. even when i do WOT and then let off the gas you can hear the bov over the engine and the exhaust.

When you compare a recirculated to a non it is night and day... In traffic, other people wont hear your car unless they are trying to.. Open atmosphere they have no choice .

i did, when i went meat someone they had a aftermarket bov not recirculated. its not that louder really. idk if it was his turbo because he was only running 10psi on a 16g. but i have heard other's and i really dont think they are much louder.

I'm not referring to the guy driving next to you.. even with my stock BOV when I am driving around you can see people across 8 lanes (2 4 lanes in opposite directions) turn around.

It is definitely your buddies set up. Open atmosphere is quite a bit louder in every aspect and higher pitched as well.

Only did it if you are running SD or a MAFT. Its not worth it running it on a 2G Mas which isn't set up to compensate.

I test drove a bone stock 2g Tsi, and I think as long as its in good running condition and builds proper boost, than you shouldnt have a problem of people hearing it.. Cause the one I drove was pretty loud! certainly had kids in an integra looking my way...

im running the hks ssqv with the recirculation and it sounds more agressive than it did just venting

Why do you care how much sound your bov makes? You should be caring about how much power your car makes and if it is running properly. Seriously most ridiculous threads on Tuners now..

Anyhow, I ran a HKS SSQV.. Recirc'd.. Worked well, Im not sure what is popular theses days, anyone want to chime in... I know there was a couple popular like BLiTz, Perrin, TiAL was a big one..

Another vote for bone stock 2g being noticed by people 2-3 lanes over. I actually prefer it quieter, I'd rather not scream for attention, and if someone does notice it's usually because they know what that sound is.

Come on guys you all know the sound is the best anywho get yourself a 1g bov I got one for now and its SO much louder than the POS plastic 2g, and it doesnt leak like the stock 2g either. However they are right stick with performnce over sound better to have a good running car than a car that only sounds mean

I noticed my stock plastic 2g BOV got a lot louder when I put a K&N cone filter on. Before it had the stock air box on and I could barely hear it. Other than plugs and wires, the filter is the only other aftermarket thing I have done to my car.
