Hey guys,

I just got another 2ga GST and the PO had all the work done by a speed shop, the car is in great condition, has many mods including dsmlink v2. The car came with an autometer air/fuel narrowband gauge that has the lean/stoic/rich markings and the LED indicator that swings back and forth uselessly.

So a couple questions:
  • Can you even attempt to tune with DSMlink without a wideband sensor?
  • Can you have the air/fuel gauge described above with a wideband sensor? If you can, would it still swing back and forth like christmas tree lights?
I haven't had a a chance to get under the car and check whats actually installed and if it is wideband, where they put it. Based on my description, do you guys think I'm due for a whole wideband kit or just the gauge?

Thanks you the help ladies and gents!

Sounds like they just wired in a cheap pos narrowband gauge. That thing will do you no good. I would try and sell it and get an actual wideband.

Yes, you can tune with link without a wideband but just don't get crazy with full trims, air sliders and stuff the wideband just tells you everything is all right and how good or bad your A/F ratio is. Don't get me wrong tho a wideband is a must when tuning. So get one!

Okay, thanks for the responses,

I know that you can buy the LC-1 unit with or without the gauge (so that the only output it uses is the connection to your ECU) and was curious on if the PO went this route, then decided to use a narrowband gauge for visual output.

It sounds like that isn't the case and that I should get the whole wideband kit. I'll probably go with the new LC-2 from innovate. (I don't want to start a discussion on which wideband is better, there are enough threads about that though)

Thanks guys, big help!
