is it a bad idea to run my car with the exhaust unbolted?

I have it unbolted from the cat.

will it damage anything? or will i just throw a CEL for the o2 sensor?

thanks!!!!

As long as you have the front o2 in place it will be fine. It will be loud and not street legal though. You might get a CEL when you unplug the rear o2 sensor also.

Why? Just so i can hear how loud and obnoxious it will be

And no, not for a long time. Probably just a few days til i get my new exhaust set up.

So basically im just doing it for fun.

The CEL wont make it run funny will it?

Well its going to be loud as hell..SO I would stay very low rpm's if your driving around town, to cut down on a cop attention.I have a downpipe cutout And it gets very loud if you don't stay low rpm's..

ok, i wont have it this way for long im just bored with the silence. Im used to a straight piped V8 with 10series flows on it LOL

There is no way that kid still has the Cat on his exhaust. If you still have the Cat on its not that bad, it gets loud under accel/decel, but as for cruising or low load situations, its wasn't much louder then my ebay special exhaust.

For reference I cruised around with the stock downpipe and Cat for the better part of two months while I dealt with issues with rust welded bolts and the cat-back I bought not lining up properly.

I have mine open DP and it is pretty loud, and obnoxious under accel especially decel isnt too bad, but cruise is pretty low levels. I like mine alot, I have my cat droped and i am goign to make a Test pipe out of one of those summit cut out pieces and put the pipe out by the rear tire. that way the sound isnt right under me, but get the open pipe sound.
