Is anyone here running an open Downpipe on their 4G63t?

I realise this is a big performace gain, compared to stock exhaust, so I was wondering. I was wondering if you are running it, or have ever ran it, and if the cops gave you any trouble. Also where you're located. My friend ran open Header in his Honda for like two months with no problems. I thought of just taking off my cat one day and running open DP but with the cat-back still on so it looks like I have an exhaust. But the cat is rusted on it seems like, so it would be trouble getting it of, thus why I'm asking.

Thanks for the replies.

Stock open downpipe, IMO, sounds like ass. It would be a big gain over the stock restrictive exhaust though. I ran my 3" DP open for a couple days, and it sounded pretty cool, much like a big diesel truck or somethin. Thats with the EVOIII turbo also. The spool sound is awesome, but trust me, you'll hate it after a day or 2. Because the sound is RIGHT under your console, its SOOO loud inside the car. Not good for a daily driven car... Cops never messed with me, and from the outside of the car, you couldnt tell it didnt have any exhaust on it at all.
Also, open header on a honda, or any NA 4cyl sounds really bad... Just plain obnoxious.
Remove your cat, but install a test pipe, or even gut the cat if you cant afford an exhaust system for it.

I agree...ran it open just to the shop to get the rest put on and it definitely was like a deisel truck..insane inside the car...very girgly/throaty....everything and i mean EVERYTHING inside the car shook/vibrated while on the throttle...crazy....probably scared a few people...but i agree as well that it wouldn't be desireable for daily driving.

i ran a open downpipe in the summer, but got sick of all the fumes rising right up in the car especially if the windows are rolled down. at idle and normal driving it sounds terrible, but at WOT it sounds sick, it sounds like a BB chevy on race day :p . I got pulled over for just punching it when i first took out the cat. but he didnt say nuttin about the exhaust, cuz it still looks like its their, i put the cat back in now cuz its winter and wont being going racing anytime soon.

I had open 3" no cat dp for about 2 hours than i freaked out and just didn't drive till i got the cat-back. It really is sooo loud.. If you like your balls to vibrate and u not hear anything by all means do it up. I would just keep the cat back on or get 3" turbo back.

I think I'll go into auto shop on a Sat. early in the morning. Take it out, and drive it around for awhile, if I like it, I'll keep it out, otherwise I'll put it back on.

I have an O2Dump on there right now, and the turbo spooling sounds so nice.

If you run an electric cutout you can adjust it to be barely open and close and all the way open. I approached RNR and they said that they would make it if enough interest was shown, but as of yet there hasn't been much intrest shown. If you have the money, it wouldn't cost much more than that of a regular downpipe and is angled down so that even at low speeds you do not notice the negative aspects (smell, sound, vibrations, etc.). If it bothers you even a little you can close it and if you get pulled over for it you can just close it, or when you get smogged...

If you are interested I would suggest that you show your interest here...
