I have a full apexi exhaust without the cat, came with the car. New years night all the hangers decided to break so the exhaust fell and scraped home, ive put a hanger on the bike to hold it up but it was scraping under the rear end so not it makes this really ANNOYING sound which i dont like. So i was hoping to just unbolt the back exhaust and keep it open all the way till it gets to the rear end. And my car is lowered so i think it will look pretty nice without the giant exhaust can in the back. I was thinking of unbolting it from the o2 housing but i i dont want to get pulled over every day. Anybody run it without the rear exhaust?

Also since it was dragging the rear o2 sensor has been spliced, so i need to replace that.

thats why i'm waiting until tomorow when i make the cable to hook up the lappy, i miss my old car but hey this car is a virgin no mods expect painted calipers ha ha ha as soon as i get the cable running and toying with the car i'll make a post

Every DSM that I've owned and removed the dp from ran leaner. So watch a/f readings when you do this. Especially if the pressure is turned up (boost). :)

i drive my 1g with the dp unbolted. Open Turbo no exhaust. LOL i just got it and having a lil fun till i get an xhaust
Bad idea- you need to have at least a little piece of exhaust. As it is, your o2 sensor is about 2" away from being exposed to fresh air. I'd venture to say your car has no idea what is going on right now.

Yeah, and not to mention the 1000 or so degrees blowing back on everything in the engine compartment... oh, and fumes too...:boring: i used the yawn not because your thread is boring, but for effect with fumes comment... :D

so there is about a 50/50 percent of people that agree and disagree but i really disagree with the whole open downpipe thing yes it sounds mean but is it practical NOPE

A 3" turbo back is what I would prefer over open dp. But I was just supplying information from my personal experiences. My 91 TSI actually was kinda rich with the full exhaust, and went to really lean with open dp. Hit fuel cut a few times...

Ummmm.....that was probably because the open downpipe made it boost creep so badly that you were most likely overboosting and causing fuel cut.

Best bet is to take it to an exhaust shop to have it fixed. If it breaks again without abuse, they should warranty their work.

Off boost turbo whine= sex. I really just want to go unbolt my catback and drive around right now.

James :laser::talon:

yea definatly really loud, i started the car and gave it a couple revs when i gutted my cat and would not want to dd like that

Actually the boost gauge had the same reading with and without the dp. Stayed around 17psi. AEM wideband read leaner tho.

Video or it didn't happen.
Haha what is it with everyone demanding pics and vids these days?

I couldn't video on the way to the track as I was the one holding the Laptop trying to get a 10-minute tune going on before we sat in line at the entry booth for 20 minutes and got the car all heated up.

It idled much like this beast, although you can't hear any turbine noise in this clip:

Jusmx141, do you think that my hx40 that im buying tomorrow will do that? :D
I would hope so! The HX40 turbine is a monster....take a look at the size difference in comparison to a TD05H:
