Why isnt my external wastegate working?

I just installed my 38mm wg on a punishment racing recirculated o2 housing.I am not hooking up my ebc yet, so for now I have it hooked up to my compressor housing.It doesnt seem to open as the boost just goes untill i let off the throttle:(..What could I have done wrong?I know the ring is seated the right way and the gaskets i am using are both brand new metel ones.Im confused!
 
The pressure of the wastegate spring will control when it opens, if the spring is to strong it wont open
 
And where did you tap for this pressure source?
Have you verified that there is no leaks in this vacuum line?

Vac line ran directly to compressor housing, no leaks.


is the wastegate flapper welded on your 16g? If that still is the turbo you are using

The flapper is removed.Its a 02 mounted wg that recirculates.The hole on the front of the turbo housing (where the flapper arm use to connect to the actuator arm) has been welded shut.
 
When you let off how many psi is the boost gauge showing? You might have to take apart the wg to see what spring/springs are inside.

It doesnt stop...its like its not even opening.I personally changed the spring to a .75 bar...Maybe they sent me the wrong one??
 
Yeah sure...Im gonna go out to the garage and try swapping springs...I have a .5 bar spring that it came with..So ill throw that in and give it a try and take some pics. Its really aannoying cause its just a wastegate, its not really that complex ya know?How annoying.
 
Turned out it was the spring..I swapped in my weaker one and now it opens fine.Im just gonna throw in my hks evc this weekend i guess!

I find it strange that your big green spring didn't work correctly. That should have kept the boost to around 13 psi. How bad was your boost spiking with the green spring?
 
Not spiking..just not opening.I was thinking maybe it was for a different tial wg style.I dont know and it really doesnt matter anyway, it works now and i have a evc to set the boost.
