Is my wastegate working?

How do you check the waste gate for correct operation? I have a turbo 97 eclipse. NO MODS YET. I think the linkage is seized up??? My guage almost peaks out the whole time I'm under throttle.

Stock boost gauge? If so, I wouldn't trust it. They aren't very accurate.

But I'm pretty sure there is something about how to check the wastegate on the vfaq, but I can't seem to find it. Check there.

i would recomend a AFTERMARKET boost gauge before you assume this. the stock one doesn't read actual air pressure so its inacurate, probly why it has no numbers.

if you want to check it find something that you can hook to a vac hose and make 14-20 psi of CONTROLLED pressure and hook it up to the boost inlet on the wastegate, you should see the arm physically move. the reason i say 14-20 is because i don't know how much it takes to actuate a t-25 and i don't know if too much pressure can harm it.

yeah the stocker is rpm controlled dont trust it....when you get your boost gaugeand have the same problem I do like 15-16 psi of boost without a mbc then you can asume its a wastegate or boost creep.
